Title of the Job: Kettle Co-ordinator

Location: Vernon, BC

Job Description: DescriptionTo co-ordinate the operations of collecting and processing donations for the 2024 Vernon Salvation Army Kettle Campaign.Hours:

  • 37.5 hours per week
  • 12 week contract duration: October 15, 2024 to December 31, 2024.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • May assist in the recruitment of Kettle volunteers, assisting with orientation & performance management.
  • Coordinates the schedule for kettle volunteers, and responds to emergency absences, etc.
  • Fosters and maintains positive working relationships with kettle sites, addressing conflicts/issues as they arise
  • Coordinates the pick up of kettles to/from sites daily, ensuring the security of donations
  • May hosts at kettle, as required, to ensure necessary coverage for breaks, etc
  • May assume responsibility for coordinating kettle counters and/or overseeing counting donations
  • Record statistical data and prepare daily/weekly spreadsheets, as required, for local/divisional/territorial offices
  • Assists and participates with the team in local seasonal advertising and social media campaigns, and local on-site events.
  • Performs other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:Education/Certifications:

  • Completed high school diploma.
  • Valid Driver’s License and clean driver’s abstract
  • Proof of Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check or willing to obtain.
  • Abuse prevention course through The Salvation Army. – we will provide the training
  • Alternative combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Must be qualified to work in Canada today to apply for this position – have a valid SIN

Experience:

  • More than three months of prior related experience

Working Environment:

  • Driving in winter
  • May work a Non-routine schedule at times
  • Required to travel up to 30% of the time
  • Carries a cell phone.

PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:

  • An understanding of and support for the Mission Statement of the Salvation Army in Canada
  • Excellent customer/donor service ethics including the ability to deal with the public in a friendly manner
  • A proven ability to work in a team setting as well as a willingness to take personal initiatives
  • The ability to adapt to change and interruptions to a normal work routine, and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • A willingness to adhere to a dress code of modesty, neatness and cleanliness

Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:

  • Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training
  • Background check consent
  • A clear vulnerable sector screening
  • A clean drivers abstract
