The Bissett School of Business offers a four-year Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree as well as diploma and certificate programs, with majors in Accounting, General Management, Human Resources, and Marketing; concentrations in Financial Analysis, Financial Services, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, International Business, Social Innovation, and Supply Chain Management; a diploma in Aviation; and 14 minors. It is home to approximately 45 full-time faculty and 65 contract faculty. The School of Communication Studies offers an undergraduate Bachelor of Communication, with majors in Broadcast Media Studies, Information Design, Journalism & Digital Media, and Public Relations. The Broadcasting and Journalism department is also home to a successful Speech Minor. The School is home to approximately 25 full-time faculty and 37 contract faculty.The School of Communication Studies is located in the Faculty of Business and Communication Studies at Mount Royal University. The Faculty has a student body of approximately 3,400 students and is composed of the Bissett School of Business and the School of Communication Studies. The School of Communication Studies consists of three departments: Public Relations, Information Design, and Broadcasting and Journalism, and is also home to Mount Royal’s high-profile minor in Speech.About the courseJOUR 1728 Digital Storytelling II is a 3-credit course. A journalism requirement in Year 1, the course is also available to students seeking GenEd credit and those enrolled in the Digital Media Minor. The course runs in-person on Tuesday afternoons from 1 until 3:50 pm. Grounded through the main elements of contemporary journalism, students will undertake projects in video and photojournalism storytelling while applying key critical theoretical understandings to their own practices. Students will arrive having completed a course that introduced them to audio storytelling, including editing using Adobe Audition. As the instructor for this course, you will be responsible for developing course content based on an existing curriculum. You will be responsible for grading and providing feedback on student work, and communicating with students electronically and in person. Media scholars with the ability to teach technical and theoretical concepts will also bring contemporary trends and examples into this first-year course.About the RoleThe program is seeking a contract instructor with significant experience in teaching digital storytelling. With deep understanding of the technical tools located in the Adobe Creative Suite, the instructor will teach students in Year 1, helping them with basic videography and photography shooting and editing in a journalism context. Candidates must possess a Master’s degree. Those with PhD credentials will be given preference.
