Job Description: Job Description:Through the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS), the Government of Canada has embarked on one of the largest procurement projects since the Second World War. The NSS is a nation-building effort to create a sustainable Canadian shipbuilding industry, secure long-term job opportunities and build the next generation of ships for the Canadian Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy. Through its NSS-related work, Seaspan Shipyards is owning the redevelopment of our domestic shipbuilding industry on the West Coast and delivering on the promise of ships built in Canada, by Canadians.Located within the Quality group operating out of the Vancouver Shipyard location in North Vancouver, the Requirements and Acceptance Management Team are a hybrid of the Engineering, Contract, Quality and Project Management disciplines. We are responsible for submitting Object Quality Evidence (OQE) to the Customer to demonstrate all contractual requirements are met. This includes the construction of four contractual compliance matrices using Aras, which is the main tool that tracks the acceptance of contract requirements. This internship will provide exposure to various areas of the company including Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, Safety and Operations, in one of the largest shipbuilding programs of our time.Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 50 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.What you’ll do

  • Assist in the gathering of OQEs for programs with reference to the contract and Class requirements
  • Support the Specialist in gaining Program Director agreement on the content
  • Work on special projects as assigned by the Requirement’s and Acceptance Manager or Quality Director
  • Assist in setting up NSS Programs Class Requirements database OQEs
  • Assist in defect close-out by gathering OQEs (i.e., checking what is built in the ship)
  • Checking Functional drawings against what is built in the ship.

What you’ll bring

  • Currently enrolled in 2nd or 3rd year of an Engineering program. Students must also have a strong interest in a Project Management/Contracts.
  • Demonstrated project and/or contract knowledge, and skills through exposure to class projects or co-op terms
  • Close attention to details
  • Superior analytical skills to gather, analyze and process large amounts of data
  • Innovative thinking skills, with the tenacity to get to the source of truth
  • Exemplary integrity and honesty in all situations
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organization skills
  • Excellent knowledge of the English language, verbal and written
  • Outstanding Excel skills, knowledgeable of Macro and Power BI
