Job Description: Job Description:Through the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS), the Government of Canada has embarked on one of the largest procurement projects since the Second World War. The NSS is a nation-building effort to create a sustainable Canadian shipbuilding industry, secure long-term job opportunities and build the next generation of ships for the Canadian Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy. Through its NSS-related work, Seaspan Shipyards is owning the redevelopment of our domestic shipbuilding industry on the West Coast and delivering on the promise of ships built in Canada, by Canadians.Located within the Quality group operating out of the Vancouver Shipyard (VSY) location in North Vancouver, the Quality Assurance (QA) Team is responsible for maintaining ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System certification for the shipyard. QA works across all departments such as Engineering, Supply Chain, Project Management, Production and Quality control. We are responsible for ensuring functional process and procedure are developed, followed, and maintained in compliance with ISO 9001:2015 requirements. This includes oversight of Seaspan Shipyards core QA processes such as Documented Information, Audit Management, Lessons Learned, Management of Change, Management Review, Managing Nonconformances and Risk Management. This internship will provide exposure to various areas of the company including Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, Project Management, Safety and Operations, in one of the largest shipbuilding programs of our time.Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 2 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver, B.C.What you’ll do:

  • Assist in managing supplier QA processes
  • Assist in developing audit plans and reports. Including annual ISO 9001:2015 external audit
  • Work with team of QA specialist in development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Work Instructions (WI)
  • Assist in updating and issuing monthly quality metrics and KPIs across the shipyard
  • Work on special projects as assigned by the QA Manager

  • Enrollment in the 2nd or 3rd year of an Engineering program.
  • A strong interest in a Project Management and Quality disciplines.
  • An understanding of ISO 9001:2015 certification requirements through exposure to class projects or co-op terms
  • Superior analytical skills to gather, analyze and process large amounts of data
  • Innovative thinking skills, with the tenacity to get to the source of truth
  • Exemplary integrity and honesty in all situations
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organization skills
  • Excellent knowledge of the English language, verbal and written
