Job Description: Job Description:Through the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS), the Government of Canada has embarked on one of the largest procurement projects since the Second World War. The NSS is a nation-building effort to create a sustainable Canadian shipbuilding industry, secure long-term job opportunities and build the next generation of ships for the Canadian Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy. Through its NSS-related work, Seaspan Shipyards is owning the redevelopment of our domestic shipbuilding industry on the West Coast and delivering on the promise of ships built in Canada, by Canadians.We are looking for a curious, innovative, and reliable communications Intern who can actively support the communications requirements for our Seaspan workforce – and beyond. In this role, you will have your finger on the heartbeat of the organization and play a substantial role in making a difference for our teams across the shipyards and marine businesses.You thrive in fast-paced environments and are looking to grow your skills as part of an agile and passionate communications team. You can’t wait to bring your fresh ideas and innovative approach to an organization that has been a staple in Canada’s west coast marine community for generations.Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 2 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.What you’ll doThe successful applicant for this internship will provide day-to-day support to the Communications team to help build and share compelling communications materials with internal and external audiences, while assisting and coordinating specific activities, including:

  • Write and edit engaging written and visual content for a variety of platforms.
  • Support the planning and delivery of events.
  • Help to capture and maintain the team’s information and digital assets.
  • Assist with capturing and managing of photos and video assets to help us share phenomenal stories.

What you’ll bring

  • Enrollment in a Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or Journalism undergraduate degree program.
  • A natural storyteller with a strive to bring an organization’s narratives into the spotlight.
  • Strong writing/editing skills and the ability to produce content for a variety of channels.
  • Project management and execution skills, with the ability to lead multiple deadlines with quick turnaround times.
  • Creative and design skills, particularly with photography and videography. Experience editing videos and handling digital assets an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to develop and manage relationships across the organization and with outside vendors.
  • Curiosity and can-do approach: willingness to continuously stretch, grow and learn – and always looking for ways to improve how Seaspan communicates with its diverse audiences.
