Title of the Job: Intermediate Interior Designer | Hospitality Projects

Location: Vancouver, BC

Job Description: At Northland Properties, our design studio champions the development of consistent and repeatable branded interior environments. Our Intermediate Interior Designers are experienced in interior design for hospitality, including restaurant and hotel environments and focus on interior design development for new-build and renovation projects. They develop interior design projects, producing detailed Design and Construction documents, including mood boards, schedules, and specifications. Partnering with the project team, they:Develop interior designs for multiple active projects in the ‘new build’ and ‘renovation’ construction pipeline, consistent with each project’s brand program, budget, and timeline.
Align Design & Construction documents with compliance to Accessibility, Building Code, Brand, and Northland Properties standards.
Lead creative development of interior design projects work, including;Interior space visualization, concept development, and rendering;
Space and Furniture Plan programming;
FF&E selection, specification, and documentation;
Supplier resourcing;
Digital mood boards and physical material boards creation;
Visual presentations development;
Owner & Executive Management presentations;Utilize knowledge of hospitality furniture and technology, and custom furniture and lighting solutions, finishes, materials, colour selections, and interior design specifications.
Produce furniture plans, specifications, material selections and schedules for active projects, working independently and with minimal supervision.
Source FF&E and interior finishes; work with suppliers to develop custom furnishings, review Shop Drawings, and provide support through production and installation.
Partner with Drafting Technicians to develop comprehensive plans sets, including floor, furniture and finish plans; reflected ceiling plans; power, dimming zone, and communication plans; interior elevations, millwork, sections and details.
Manage project documents, samples, and physical and digital filing systems.
Mentor junior team members.
Provide interior design guidance on architectural design and project management for construction projects.
Coordinate with internal project teams on the progress of architectural design and construction drawings, interior design drawings, specifications schedule, cost estimates, and project reports.
Develop technical specifications for construction documents.
Develop project administration and information tracking documents; coordinate project meetings, facilitate project team communication.
Provide support to site level construction teams; conduct site visits.
Support the growth and development of company culture and professionally represent Northland Properties
Performs other duties as requiredWhat are we looking for?Bachelors Degree in Interior Design, or a similar design-related field
Minimum 3-5 years of progressive professional experience in interior design, with a focus on hospitality design for hotels and/or restaurants
Versatile and flexible, with excellent creative and problem-solving abilities.
Knowledge of hotel and restaurant furnishings, manufacturers for furniture systems, fixtures, and finish-related materials, with ability to direct sourcing and researching, as appropriate.
Strong competence in technical interior design programming and contract document development, including development of plan sets, specifications, calculations, and application of industry standards.
Excellent AutoCAD, InDesign, SketchUp, and Microsoft Office skills.
Knowledge of Canadian and US Building Codes, Fire and Safety Codes, and the American Disabilities act, as related to hospitality interior design.
Working knowledge of interior construction, drawings, and specifications.
Demonstrated leadership, communication skills and poise, capable of presenting to Owners,
Highly organized, with capacity to manage multiple projects at various stages of development.
Ability to prepare and overview preliminary costing and comparative material sourcing.
Knowledge of millwork and detailing.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Collaborative and professional work ethic.
Wide interest and knowledge of the hospitality design industry.
Excellent communication skills.
Excellent time management.
