Location: Toronto, ON

Job Description: We are in search for an Intermediate Accountant to be a part of our team. This role is based in Toronto, Ontario and offers a long-term contract employment opportunity. The role involves managing and overseeing financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and providing strategic financial insights.Responsibilities:

• Preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Ensuring compliance with GAAP or IFRS, as applicable.
• Assisting in the development of annual budgets and forecasts.
• Monitoring and analyzing budget variances and providing insights.
• Overseeing the maintenance of the general ledger and ensuring all financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
• Coordinating and supporting internal and external audits and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
• Performing and reviewing account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Conducting financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement and providing recommendations based on financial data analysis.
• Mentoring and guiding junior accounting staff and fostering a collaborative and productive team environment.
• Identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.
• Possess a minimum of 2 years of experience in an accounting role
• Proficient in Accounting Software Systems
• Experience with ADP – Financial Services is preferred
• Familiarity with CaseWare, Ceridian, and Concur is beneficial
• Strong understanding of Accounting Functions
• Experience in managing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Knowledge of Accrual Accounting principles
• Previous experience in Auditing is a plus
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field is preferred
• Certification such as CPA is an advantage
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
