Job Description: Your Opportunity:The Palliative Consultant in acute care with the Palliative Care Consult Service provides advanced, expert nursing consultation for palliative and end-of-life (EOL) care for in-patients living in the Calgary Zone. This individual leads teams of multiple stakeholders to solve system or care challenges through quality improvement (QI), evaluation and research activities and facilitates the implementation of these solutions. Responsibilities include clinical practice and consultation, education, program planning, change leadership, CoP facilitation, research and involvement with policy development related to nursing care and health systems related to Palliative Care. This is a full-time position that works with the Palliative Care Consult Service, supporting acute care sites in Calgary Zone.Description:As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator in support of both nursing staff and the multi-disciplinary clinical team. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). The ability to engage and build collaborative relationships with staff, physicians, patients and families, leaders, learners, internal and external partners. Preferred Qualifications:Experience in consultative role. Experience providing education in health care. Master’s in nursing. Completed Pallium LEAP Training. Completed How to Care, What to Say.
