Job Description: Line of Service TaxIndustry/Sector Not ApplicableSpecialism VAT/GSTManagement Level Senior AssociateJob Description & Summary A career in our Indirect Tax practice, within Tax services, will provide you with the opportunity to help our clients meet and manage their tax obligations across unique but ever changing tax specialties. You’ll advise clients on their local and overseas tax affairs, while acting as a strategic consultant related to business analysis, managing indirect taxes, dispute resolution, and global enterprise tax solutions.Our team helps our clients optimise cash flow and reduce risk by managing challenges and identify opportunities related to indirect taxes. You’ll support our clients with all aspects of indirect taxation related to global, regional and domestic projects as well as comprehensive restructuring and compliance projects.Meaningful work you’ll be part ofAs an Indirect Tax Senior Associate, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution. PwC Professional skills and responsibilities for this management level include but are not limited to:Deal with Canadian indirect taxes which include GST/HST, provincial sales taxes, excise taxesAdvise and assist clients on indirect tax matters, which includes verbal and written communication with clients and tax authorities, researching legislation/case law/publications and drafting deliverablesAssist clients with tax authority audits and appeals, tax registrations and electionsPerform indirect tax due diligence and compliance reviews and health checksBuild meaningful relationships with coworkers within the indirect tax group, the tax team and other service lines within PwC Canada and foreign PwC firmsUse feedback and reflection to develop self-awareness, personal strengths and address development areasDelegate to others to provide stretch opportunities, coaching them to deliver resultsDemonstrate critical thinking and the ability to bring order to unstructured problemsUse a broad range of tools and techniques to extract insights from current industry or sector trendsReview your work and that of others for quality, accuracy and relevanceKnow how and when to use tools available for a given situation and can explain the reasons for this choiceSeek and embrace opportunities which give exposure to different situations, environments and perspectivesUse straightforward communication, in a structured way, when influencing and connecting with othersAble to read situations and modify behaviour to build quality relationshipsUphold the firm’s code of ethics and business conductExperience and skills you’ll use to solvePrior accounting or tax experience in public or private sectorHands-on experience and knowledge of Canadian indirect taxes and/or value added taxes in other jurisdictionsStrong knowledge and practical application of technology tools commonly used in data transformation and visualisation, such as Alteryx, Power Query, Tableau, PowerBI, advance Microsoft ExcelStrong marketing skills and client focusStrong written and verbal communication skills, good interpersonal skills and the ability to read and interpret legislationAbility to handle multiple assignments, work effectively under pressure and work well in a team environmentPwC Canada is committed to cultivating an inclusive, hybrid work environment. Actual compensation within the range will be dependent upon your skills, experience, qualifications and geographic location.*Please note that the salary range for this position is reflected for our British Columbia region. Given our national recruiting approach, we recruit (and may hire) in other regions and therefore the salary range may differ depending on the work location.
