This is a hybrid work position in Calgary, Alberta and requires in-person collaboration at the WestJet Campus (22 Aerial Place NE) 3 days per week. This provides flexibility for the remaining 40% of the work week. This hybrid work plan allows for critically important learning, collaboration, and networking with our colleagues. Specific days in the office are agreed upon by the team.Overview of role:As an Intermediate Project Manager within WestJet’s Integration Management Office (IMO) team, you will lead moderately complex projects that span multiple business units in support of the integration program. Experience within the merger and acquisitions space or supporting a large program will be an asset for this role. You will provide project leadership and support to strategic initiatives crossing business areas and operations teams to define project objectives, ensure timely completion of projects and measure results.As the Intermediate Project Manager, you are accountable for building a high performing project team that will deliver the traditional project outcomes (on-time, on-budget, on-schedule) in addition to ensuring the project is set up to achieve the desired business outcomes. You can navigate in an environment of informal authority and can influence stakeholders at various levels within the organization. You are a problem solver and can facilitate conflict towards a win-win outcome with moderate escalation and support. You are passionate about what you do and meet your commitments with high quality results. As the ideal candidate for this role, you have developed exceptional communication skills and are a gifted facilitator. You are passionate about what you do and meet your commitments producing high quality work with little to no oversight required.Note: this role resides within the Operations Program, which is comprised of projects in the Airline Operations, Inventory & Supply Chain, Fleet, Tech Ops, and Airport spaces.Key deliverables include:

  • Demonstrate the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional, cross-organization teams to negotiate and integrate project plans, secure commitments on deliverables, and resolve blocking issues
  • Define the Project Statement of Work, Scope, Specifications, and Requirements for the project deliverables
  • Identify, track, and manage project interdependencies to ensure optimal utilization of resources, ongoing risk identification, and timely benefits realization on the project level
  • Cultivate relationships to provide project leadership and communicate vision and strategy in a highly matrix environment
  • Manage conflict in larger groups and quickly build strong relationships with team members and key stakeholders
  • Ensure organizational alignment on scope, schedule, quality benefits and define, implement, and monitor appropriate controls to proactively deal with barriers to completion
  • Identify stakeholders and manage at varying levels within the organization, tailoring your style and approach to meet their needs
  • Work with stakeholders to elicit, document and manage the requirements for the project (waterfall or agile methodology)
  • Actively engage with business areas to ensure access to knowledgeable personnel and execution of project planning and organizational governance
  • Ensure project establishes and delivers on commitment and benefits and establishes metrics to proactively identify areas of risk and allow planning for mitigation

Experience and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, business, or another relevant field. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered
  • 3-7 years’ experience as a Project Manager in an environment with increasing scope and complexity
  • Highly motivated, passionate, persuasive, and capable of quickly establishing credibility in launching and managing projects to ensure a successful outcome
  • A background in Operations is strongly preferred
  • PMP Certification is considered an asset
  • Industry recognized certifications, specifically in Change Management (PROSCI) or Agile considered an asset
