Job Description: Job Summary A patient, warm and inclusive nanny/house manager is needed for a busy family in the Beaches. The children are 6 and 8 years old and are in school full-time. We are looking for someone experienced who is a self-starter, takes initiative to get things done and is proactive about helping out. This position is a mixture of childcare and house manager duties. We are looking for someone who can manage the household, run errands such as grocery shopping, dry cleaning, returning packages etc, organizing the home, meal prep, ordering items for the children as well as for the home and ensuring the household items are fully stocked and organized. The family hires a cleaner who comes 4 times a week. There is no deep cleaning included in this position, just general tidying, organizing and up keep.The family has an elderly dog who requires some short walks as well as being let out. The nanny duties include picking up the children from school, assisting with the after school routines, taking the children to activities and supervising homework. The nanny will act as a liaison between the teachers at school and the parents. Being able to communicate clearly and openly is a very important aspect of this role. We are looking for a warm and loving role model and caregiver for these two school age children. Both children are neurodiverse and while we do not require someone who has experience working with children who are neurodiverse we require someone who is patient, loving and willing to learn what works best for these children in their day to day routines. The schedule can be full-time or part-time but we require someone who can be available full-time when the children are home from school on sick days, holidays, summer vacation and PD days. Some flexibility is required when the parents travel for work but the parents will request additional hours in advanced. Please note that one of the parents is allergic to fish. Location: The Beaches- Woodbine Ave and Kingston Road Children’s age: 6 years and 8 years Start Date: As soon as the right fit is found (Ideally before November 1st 2024) Contract length: 1 year to start but the family is looking for a long term commitment Schedule: Monday to Thursday 12:00pm-8:00pm and Friday 10:00am-6:00pm. Hourly Rate: $28-$35/hour gross Responsibilities Provide attentive and responsible care for children in a safe, understanding and nurturing environment. Engage children in age-appropriate activities, pick children up from school and take them to their activities, play dates and appointments, supervise and assist with homework as needed Prepare and serve meals and snacks for the family ensuring they receive proper nutrition. Perform house management duties such as but not limited to ; run errands such as grocery shopping, dry cleaning, returning packages etc, organizing the home, family meal prep, ordering items for the children as well as for the home and ensuring the household items are fully stocked and organized, pet care, tidying the home, emptying and loading the dishwasher, taking out garbages, tidying up after meals etc. Maintain open and clear communication with parents regarding the child’s daily activities, progress, and any concerns that may arise. Requirements/Qualifications 3+ years of Nanny experience in a private home. 3+ years of experience working as a house manager. 5+ years of experience working with children. Experience working with neurodiverse children an asset. Experience driving children around the city. Ability to provide a safe, understanding and secure environment for children. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with both children and parents. Strong organizational skills to manage daily routines, the home and schedules. Patience, creativity, and a positive attitude when engaging with children. Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities effectively.
