(employee will be working with or have access to children or vulnerable adults and requires a Criminal Record Check)YesJob DescriptionIn accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.Reporting to the Neighbourhood Team Manager, responsible for maintaining the inventory of equipment, instruments and supplies; and maintaining, repairing and cleaning equipment for Community Health Programs. Preparing and packaging instruments for shipment to Central Processing for sterilization. Assists in updating and maintaining resource materials.QUALIFICATIONS:Education, Training And ExperienceHigh school graduation or equivalent.Knowledge of filing and record keeping.Skills and knowledge of the Sterile Supply and Processing Aid course.Skills And Abilities

  • Ability to work independently, organizing and coordinating own work schedule.
  • Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of the policies and procedures for maintaining asepsis and processing sterile supplies.
  • Ability to maintain, stock and order supplies.
  • Communication skills including collaboration and conflict resolution.
  • Knowledge of a variety of equipment used in community health.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Skills to do or ensure minor repairs of equipment used in community health.
  • Good knowledge of suppliers and the items they carry.
  • Must possess a valid British Columbia Drivers License and have a vehicle available for work.
