Title of the Job: Hardware Engineer

Job Description: Description:

• Support estimating of Hardware work packages
• Generation of Electrical Hardware requirements documentation for an assigned electrical hardware subsystem
• Generation of Schematics, BOMs, PCB design and fabrication documentation
• Generation of Documentation package for the assigned hardware subsystem in support of design reviews
• Unit testing of the Hardware subsystem
• Integration testing of the Hardware subsystem in the product
• Work with Engineering and Manufacturing to debug and identify design issues
• Participate in activities such as investigation & resolution of service difficulty reports, failure investigations, root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions, document lessons learned and subsequently update design standards
• Work closely with Business Development and Proposal Leaders to ensure that only sound technical solutions are offered to customers
• Research technology advancements for potential application to company business needs and make recommendations for technology investments and R&D

Qualifications:

• Design and implementation of digital systems using microcontrollers and FPGAs
• Experience/familiarity with JTAG, I2C, SPI, UART, etc. interface design
• Worst case circuit analysis & design
• Familiarity with design for electromagnetic compatibility and ESD/lightning induced transient immunity
• Familiarity with Altium Designer – Schematic Design and PCB layout tool
• Knowledge of industry requirements for the design and certification of avionics systems (software and hardware) such as ARP 4754, ARP 4761, DO-160, DO-178, DO-254, etc. is essential
• Knowledge of aircraft cockpit lighting requirements (design and certification) such as MIL-DTL-7788, MIL-STD-3009, etc. is preferable
• Knowledge of cockpit display and avionics system design, including ARINC and HMI requirements is preferable
• Knowledge of embedded communications standards such as CANBus (ARINC-825), Serial (ARINC-429), & Ethernet
• Thorough understanding of configuration and change management
• Experience working on aircraft-level directly with the aircraft manufacturer is an asset.
• Experience with PWB, CCA and avionics component design and manufacturing requirements (IPC-2221, J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, etc.) is an asset
• A working knowledge of system reliability and safety requirements (e.g. reliability hazard analysis, FMEA, fault tree analysis, MIL-HDBK-217, Weibull analysis, etc.) is an asset
