Position Summary:We are seeking for an energetic and results-oriented General Manager to lead the food and beverage team at the Enercare Centre at Exhibition Place in downtown Toronto. The ideal candidate will be a passionate leader with a proven track record in increasing revenues, maintaining standards, and nurturing a positive culture. The successful candidate should have a thorough understanding of retail and catering operations, a logistical mindset, a drive to boost sales, and a proven track record of executing large-scale events. This individual will oversee all managerial, full-time, and part-time positions and ensure full compliance with provincial laws, sanitation and food-related regulations, and alcohol service laws, in addition to managing day-to-day business operationsThis role will pay a salary of CAD $130,000 to $150,000 and is bonus eligible.For FT roles: Benefits: Health, Dental and Vision insurance, 401(k) savings plan, 401(k) matching, and paid time off (vacation days, sick days, and 12 holidays)This position will remain open until Dec 31, 2024. Responsibilities:
- Ensure legal, efficient, professional and profitable operation of Enercare Centre
- Generate and review financial reports, including budgets, projections, forecasting, revenue analysis, disbursements, capital investments, labor and product costs, wage and salary control, P&L financial statements
- Equipment purchases and leases with approval of the RVP
- Enforce company issued policies and procedures
- Oversee scheduling and labor allocation
- Evaluate recent historical sales and purchasing data for the purpose of identifying purchasing patterns and accurate cost of goods and services
- Program and maintain the point of sale system to ensure accurate financial reporting, tracking of accountability and commodity levels
- Directs and assists managers in preparing and attaining future goals
- Provides each manager with the proper direction
- Inspects the operation on a regular basis to ensure that the established quality standards are maintained
- Prepares required reports accurately and submits on time, follows up with managers to ensure their reporting is completed within assigned timelines
- Gives the managers clear direction and provides the necessary assistance for them to perform their assigned duties
- Evaluates each manager’s performance and makes recommendations for their improvement
- Reviews and assists in the development of menus and marketing plans with the appropriate managers
- Establishes and maintains personal relationships and regular meetings with our Client
- Establishes and maintains personal relationships with show managers, suppliers, vendors and the public that projects Enercare Centre in a positive and professional manner
Qualifications:
- MA or MS; BA or BS with business-related major
- Minimum 5 years management experience in high volume catering and retail environments.
- Nationally recognized, advanced food service sanitation training course certification
- Ability to communicate with employees, co-workers, volunteers, management staff, clients and guests in a clear, professional and courteous manner which fosters a positive enthusiastic and cooperative work environment
- Entrepreneurial mindset with strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
- Solid working knowledge of computer applications: Microsoft office, POS systems, payroll and scheduling systems
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment
- Possess a thorough working knowledge of all existing Retail and Catering locations, equipment, evacuation procedures, adjacent employee and guest areas, and facility access
- Possess a valid Food Handlers certificate and Smart Serve Certification
- Possess thorough working knowledge of all applicable sanitation requirements, food preparation guidelines, alcohol service policies, safety standards, pertaining to Oakview Group and venue retail and catering services operations.
- Ability to calculate basic and complex math functions
- Ability to consistently adhere to the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, ethics and confidentiality
