Job Description: Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure work in customer spaces minimally disrupts service.
- Monitor, maintain, and repair Mechanical, Plumbing, Structural, Architectural, Fire/Life Safety, and Control systems to maintain facility and building standards.
- Manage facility services, including preventative maintenance, purchasing, inventory control, contracted maintenance, and technical upkeep.
- Respond promptly to Help Desk Service events and emergency calls.
- Maintain adequate operating inventory of tools and supplies; develop sources for stock materials.
- Record and adjust readings as necessary to ensure equipment operates properly.
- Maintain equipment by cleaning, inspecting, calibrating, and replacing parts to optimize ECLRT systems’ performance within competency levels.
- Adhere to safety policies and legislation for safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials; maintain a clean, safe workplace.
- Utilize clients’ Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for customer service requests and issue resolution.
- Prepare and submit purchase order requests as required.
- Verify accuracy of deliveries for count, pricing, etc.
- Conduct periodic checks of tool and instrument inventory.
- Monitor quality and pricing of maintenance work performed by external contractors.
- Stay updated with latest technologies.
- Act as Team Lead when required.
- Perform additional job duties as requested.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
- More than 5 years of experience in a similar role, with proficiency in Mechanical Systems, HVAC, plumbing, Electrical, Fire Suppression, or Building Operations work.
- Ontario High School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, and/or graduation from a technical training program at a community college.
- Comprehensive knowledge of maintenance and management procedures applicable to preventative maintenance and repair of building facilities.
- Thorough understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ministry of Environment Regulations, Ontario Building Code, and Ontario Fire Code.
- Strong judgment, problem-solving, analytical, and interpersonal skills with excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to analyze system operations, diagnose problems or malfunctions, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Working knowledge of computer applications, including Word and Excel, is advantageous.
- Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) software is beneficial.
- Must possess a valid non-probationary Class “G” Ontario Driver’s License in good standing.
Consequences of Error:
- Errors may lead to schedule delays, service disruptions, material wastage, equipment damage, increased costs, and safety impacts. Significant errors could cause severe injury to CTSM employees and customers, potentially resulting in monetary losses for CTSM.
- This position is designated as Safety-Sensitive under CTSM’s Fitness for Duty Policy, making the incumbent subject to Drug and Alcohol testing based on reasonable grounds or post-incident circumstances linking impairment to Safety-Sensitive job tasks.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
- Requires considerable time traveling to and from various work sites.
- Involves moderate physical effort, including carrying equipment and performing tasks. Occasionally requires lifting heavier equipment.
- May involve outdoor work with exposure to inclement weather.
- Involves frequent walking, standing, climbing, and working in tunnels, small spaces, or elevated areas. Exposure to track level and construction hazards, as well as dirt, is possible.
- The incumbent must be available to work rotating shifts.
Reporting Relationships (Direct/Indirect):
- Reports directly to the Senior Supervisor of Engineering and Facilities Operations.
Supervisory Responsibility:
- This position does not have direct reports.
