You will underwrite contract surety accounts by reviewing and interpreting financial statements to conduct financial and credit risk analysis to make appropriate recommendations and decisions. You will work collaboratively with the Contract Surety team. This position requires a minimum of 2 days in the Intact Calgary office. Based on experience, this position can be a Financial Analyst/Underwriter or a Senior Financial Analyst/Underwriter.About the role:The successful candidate will review and interpret financial statements and risks associated with bonded construction projects. You will demonstrate financial acumen, critical thinking, and strong organizational skills. They will work towards building and maintaining positive relationships with various clients: insurance brokers, lawyers, chartered accountants, and construction companies.What you’ll do here:Manage a diverse portfolio of contract surety accountsAnalyze and secure underwriting data, perform financial analysis and apply critical thinking on underwriting decisions and client relationship issuesAssess risk and appropriately recommend approval of new and renewing contract surety facilitiesPrioritize workflow to maximize productivity and meet deadlinesAssist in the preparation and submission of special acceptances to reinsurersMaintain quality control and profitable growthMaintain a strong knowledge of construction industry trends, market conditions, and current challenges and opportunitiesWork towards developing broker relationships and marketing strategies to further new business development opportunitiesWhat you bring to the table:Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or finance or any combination of training and experience deemed relevant for the roleMinimum of 2 years of surety or related business experience is considered an assetConstruction experience/knowledge is considered an assetSolid understanding of financial statementsStrong analytical and research skillsA history of providing excellent customer service and sound judgmentStrong interpersonal and communication skillsExcellent organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a high-volume, fast-paced environmentAbility to work independently and collaborate with co-workers in a team settingProficiency with MS Office Suite of productsBilingualism in French and English, written and spoken, is an assetThis position closes Sunday October 20th, 2024 at 11:59pm mst.#LI-HybridWhat we offerWorking here means you’ll be empowered to be and do your best every day.
