Whether it be in front of the camera, on air, online or behind the scenes, you would be joining a team that thrives on making connections and telling stories that are important to Canadians.Unposting Date: 2024-10-16 11:59 PMCBC News is looking for an innovative and versatile producer with a strong interest in international news and excellent field production skills to join our bureau in London, UK.Our mission is: “CBC News is with you every day, making sense of our world together.”We are seeking a producer who can deliver on that mission with our award-winning London team.This position will be primarily focused on video, audio and text storytelling aimed at digital audiences, working both with correspondents and independently, under the direction of the Senior World Editor.It’s a demanding role that involves planning coverage and deployments, including to war zones.The successful candidate must also be comfortable responding to live breaking news situations for all platforms.We need someone who is highly organized and calm under pressure, with story ideas that reflect a range of cultural perspectives and have the potential to appeal to new audiences.Reporting experience is an asset.This position involves long hours and extended assignments away from London on short notice. You must be willing to work anywhere in Europe and points beyond—including the Middle East, Ukraine and Africa.The successful candidate will be hired into a permanent position based in Toronto and immediately assigned to join our bureau in London.As a London bureau field producer, you will be expected to:Develop and deliver creative story ideas and original journalism specifically with digital video, audio and text destinations in mindRecognize newsworthy issues and events and take immediate and effective action to ensure appropriate coverageConduct research, develop contacts, set up interviews, arrange travel, and prepare detailed shoot schedules for multi-platform coverage of stories beyond London.Create thorough coverage plans for upcoming news and current affairs assignmentsThe following skills and experience are required:Meaningful interest in global affairs and international newsAt least five years of relevant experience demonstrating proven ability in field productionStrong digital writing and still photography skills; experience with digital content management systemsStrong editorial judgment and creative production senseExperience covering news abroadProven ability to set priorities, plan, organize and meet deadlines under challenging circumstances.Grasp of audio editing tools such as Dalet/Adobe audition as well as field technologies including Aspera, Dejero/LiveU and other audio filing apps.Strong interpersonal skills with a successful track record of working as part of a small team.The expectation is that the term of this posting will be 3-5 years, after which you will return to Toronto.
