The Bissett School of Business hosts four departments: General Management & Human Resources, Accounting & Finance, International Business & Supply Chain Management, and Entrepreneurship, Marketing & Social Innovation. The School of Communication Studies consists of three departments: Public Relations, Information Design, and Broadcast Media Studies and Journalism.The Bissett School of Business is an accredited member of EFMD, a global, non-profit, membership-driven organization dedicated to management development.About the RoleThe person in this position provides support to the BCS Dean’s Office leadership team, particularly for strategic initiatives, research, and accreditation. The position works closely with the Faculty’s administrative team and must be able to work independently within established parameters to perform a range of duties to support efficient administrative functions. The position is responsible for many time-sensitive projects within a fast-paced environment; it requires a high degree of initiative, professionalism, acumen, and communication skills. Core responsibilities are project management and effective communication.Responsibilities:Data Analysis and Reporting
- Build and maintain internal databases that support reporting and decision making in BCSA.
- Liaise with the Office of Institutional Research and Planning (OIRP) to secure data and reports on behalf of the Dean’s office.
- Develop and maintain an online system to organize/manage BCSA reports and data.
- Work with ITS to ensure confidentiality and security of the BCSA data management system.
- Administer internal surveys as requested and in accordance with MRU policies.
- Conduct basic qualitative and quantitative data analysis as requested.
- Prepare reports and presentations utilizing data and appropriate visualization techniques.
- Compile and report data for the Dean and Vice Deans to support decision making, strategic planning and quality assurance practices.
- Gather, report and input statistical information as needed to support accreditation applications and reports to national and international accreditation bodies.
General Support
- Provide comprehensive support to the Faculty’s leadership team.
- Support strategic projects and initiatives as directed.
- Administer, coordinate and manage activities related to the Dean’s Office leadership team as assigned.
- Plan and manage scheduling and calendars for the leadership team as assigned.
- Plan, implement and manage procedural changes to improve efficiency.
- Support records management.
- Expense processing support.
- Conduct other duties as directed by the Vice Deans and Dean.
Communication
- Act as a communications hub among the leadership team, faculty members, staff, and internal/external stakeholders.
- Review, edit, and update relevant information and communication on all internal and external platforms.
- Communicate, liaise, and collaborate with other departments in the University.
- Assist BCSA to respond to university-wide research requests.
- Compile and distribute information and materials to faculty, staff and students
- Collect, analyze and summarize research output and impact data for internal and external (e.g., accreditation bodies) stakeholders
- Coordinate logistics for meeting, and special events, and research events including calendar invites, booking facilities, materials and equipment, and catering
- Assist with student event planning and management
- Arrange travel, transportation and accommodations as required
Qualifications
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience as an Administrative Assistant.
- Some experience in a post-secondary environment is advantageous.
- Administrative training (a diploma or certificate) is an asset.
- Bachelor’s degree is an asset.
- Excellent computer skills including word processing, CANVA, spreadsheet, calendar management, and the ability to learn a variety of different institutional software programs.
- Experience creating and coordinating internal systems and processes to improve efficiency and communication.
- Experience collecting, analyzing and visualizing data.
- Excellent organizational skills with experience in dealing with a wide variety of demands, e.g., scheduling, record keeping, minute taking, budget management.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to assess and manage priorities in line with deadlines.
- Employ sound judgment, professionalism and the ability to complete tasks with little supervision and the confidence to be proactive.
- Attention to detail is essential.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
