Winnipeg, ManitobaOn behalf of our client, Lifesaving Society Manitoba, we are looking for an Executive Director to support their organization. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for the successful leadership and management of the organization according to their mission and the strategic direction and policies set by the Board of Directors.
The ideal candidate for this role will have a passion for public safety and Injury prevention. The Executive Director ensures delivery of the organization’s public education and public relations strategy, effective and transparent development and delivery of training programs and certification processes, and oversight and leadership of passionate individuals in achieving the organization’s vision.About the Lifesaving Society Manitoba:
The Lifesaving Society (aka The Royal Life Saving Society Canada) is a national registered not-for-profit organization committed to the prevention of drowning and water-related injury. This is accomplished through program education in collaboration with affiliated pools and waterfronts, public education, safety management services and Lifesaving Sport. We are a member of the Commonwealth Royal Life Saving Society and Canadian member of the International Life Saving Federation. As the Executive Director, you will:

• Participate with the Board of Directors in developing a vision and strategic plan to guide the organization
• Develop an operational plan which incorporates goals and objectives that work towards the strategic direction of the organization, ensuring that the operation meets the expectations of it’s Board Members and funders
• Oversee the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of the organization
• Oversee the development and implementation of HR policies, procedures and practices, including the development of job descriptions for all staff
• Establish a positive, healthy and safe work environment in accordance with all appropriate legislation and regulations
• Recruit, interview and select staff to help further the organization’s mission
• Collaborate with staff and the Audit and Finance Committee to prepare a comprehensive annual budget
• Research funding sources, oversee the development of fundraising plans, write funding proposals, and work with the Board to secure funding
• Identify and evaluate the risks to the organization, property, finances, goodwill, and image and implement measures to control risks
• Establish good working relationships and collaborative arrangements with community groups, funders, politicians and other organizations

You and Your Experience:

• University degree in a related field, such as recreation, social services, marketing, business management or leadership, or equivalent experience
• An MBA is preferred, with demonstrated leadership experience
• Knowledge of leadership and management principles as they relate to non-profit/volunteer-based organizations
• Knowledge of federal/provincial legislation applicable to non-profit sectors
• Strong understanding of human resources and financial principles
• Excellent communication skills, including media relations
• A strategic thinker with strong planning and organizational skills
