This position is rotational on a 21/21 schedule and will be based in a remote location in Nunavut, near Bathurst Inlet.Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the culinary team in a remote camp setting, ensuring food service operations run smoothly and efficiently.
  • Design menus, create recipes, and ensure food quality and presentation meet or exceed client expectations.
  • Oversee food inventory control, including ordering, receiving, and storage.
  • Maintain strict adherence to all food handling, safety and sanitation standards.
  • Train and develop kitchen staff, ensuring proper knowledge and skills are obtained.
  • Implement and monitor efficient and cost-effective cooking processes.
  • Manage and maintain all kitchen equipment, ensuring proper functionality and cleanliness.
  • Work collaboratively with project managers and clients to fulfill specific catering requests and dietary needs.
  • Execute and oversee special events and functions.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Proven past experience as an Executive Chef or similar role, in a FIFO camp setting is required.
  • Red Seal certification is a definite asset.
  • Extensive knowledge of food preparation techniques, culinary trends, and best practices.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a remote and demanding environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • Certification in food safety and sanitation is required.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment and ongoing drug and alcohol testing.
  • Flexibility to work on a rotational schedule, 12 hour days.
