Job Description: Opportunity:If a collegial working environment in a diverse community practice within a 90-minute drive to the Canadian Rocky Mountains is what you are looking for, you’ve come to the right place!The Department of Emergency Medicine at Red Deer Regional Hospital is actively recruiting full-time, part-time and locum, FRCPC/CCFP(EM)/ABEM certified Emergency Physicians to join our department. Start dates are negotiable.We are a busy regional trauma centre, seeing ~55,000 patients annually. We see the 4th highest volume of major trauma in the province and are well supported by General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Ophthalmology, OBGYN, ENT, Urology, in-house ICU, Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, Respirology, Endocrinology, Nephrology, Oncology, Hematology, Infectious Diseases, Neurology (including acute stroke coverage), Adult and Child/Adolescent Psychiatry, Pediatrics/NICU, Geriatrics and Radiology/Interventional Radiology. Within our department we have allied health support for Social Work, a mental health crisis assessment team, physician assistants, home care/discharge planning, physiotherapy, and imbedded pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.We are affiliated with two major universities and are involved with training family medicine and emergency medicine residents and fourth year rural medical students. Located halfway between Calgary and Edmonton, two international airports are approximately an hour away. Red Deer is Alberta’s third most populous city with a population of over 100,000 people and a catchment area of over 400,000.Salary Details:Compensation is based on a fee-for-service model with additional payment options available. Income is competitive and shifts are assigned equitably among the 22 members of our group. Compensation, based on full-time 14 shifts/month is approximately $450,000 CAD (£251,000 GBP). For full-time and part-time members, shifts are balanced monthly/quarterly/yearly for equality and vacation time is available for all members regardless of seniority.Qualifications:Emergency Medicine Physicians with a UK Certificate of Completion of Training are not required to rewrite any exams in order to be approved for accelerated licensure in Alberta, and can immediately start in independent practice. - Certified or eligible for CCFP(EM) or eligible to sit the next exam, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification; or ABEM
- Have completed, or be currently enrolled in an Emergency Medicine residency program (in Canada preferred);
- Be eligible for full licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta;
