To support our focus on delivering high quality products, we are looking for an enthusiastic internship student to add to either our FPGA and Electrical Engineering Product Development teams. This role offers you a chance to work hands-on alongside our engineering team who design Xilinx based FPGA solutions and digital hardware to support Hexagon’s precision position products. Working with our experienced team of engineers and designers you will gain valuable experience in helping to develop and verify hardware solutions for receivers, enclosure products, and other high frequency platforms. This role offers you a chance to work hands-on alongside our highly skilled design and sustaining engineering staff to develop, test, and maintain our GNSS technology. Working with our experienced team of designers you will gain valuable design experience, design methodologies, best practices as well as solid theoretical understanding of GNSS and its applications. This job will provide you with a diverse experience in both GNSS and Hardware design and test.The Location: Hexagon is a global company with locations around the world. This position is based onsite in Calgary, AB.ResponsibilitiesAs a FPGA/Electrical Engineering Intern, responsibilities include:
- Contribute to the design, development and testing of FPGA-based systems using Xilinx tools and technologies
- Support the integration of FPGA solutions with ASIC components to enhance overall system performance
- Hand building test prototypes and debug testing
- Manage product lifecycle issues by analyzing each concern
- Technical coordination of materials for proto builds
- Drive the technical resolution to conclusion: hands on solution development including hardware design, test plan, test execution, test reports, documentation updates, and final implementation
- Develop automated script to expedite designer testing
- Develop test plans and execute designer testing using state of the art test equipment
- Analyze test data using graphical and statistical data to identify and investigate HW defects
- Drive Root Cause Analysis when required to determine effective solution to the problem
- Compile high quality written reports using standard templates
QualificationsMust-Have:
- Registered in the Engineering Internship/Co-op program and have completed at least your 2nd or 3rd year of studies by the start of your work term
- Enrolled in Electrical Engineering program at an accredited post secondary institution
- Available for a minimum 12 month work term, working 37.5 hours a week
- Strong academic credentials
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written

Nice-to-Have:
- Coursework, specialization or interest in FPGA and Electrical engineering, or wireless communications
- Understanding of basic GNSS principles, concepts, and terminology
- Able to read and understand electronic schematics
- Experience with Python, Matlab, Xilinx or other FPGA development tools and scripting languages
- Strong skill set with Personal Computers, operating systems and software packages
- Understanding of Root Cause Analysis (8D)
- Collaborative, persuasive, successful at negotiation
- Ability to work with Multidisciplinary teams
