We are seeking a Professional Engineer to join our Protection & Controls Department in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Responsibilities:

Closely collaborate with Grid Modernization teams such as Distribution Engineering and Asset Management and play a
technical role in identifying, planning, prioritizing, allocating, monitoring, and delivering on core workload to ensure a highly
reliable, secure, and safe distribution automation and controls systems.

Lead and direct work on maintaining MH Industrial Control Systems (ICS) compliance on automation control equipment and
Intelligent Electronic Devices (IED).

Provide specialized technical support and guidance for field personnel on equipment problems, performance evaluation and
troubleshooting, maintenance and commissioning standards, utilizing the latest technology, simulation software, and tools.

Provide technical expertise and maintain an advanced working knowledge of the following:
– Distribution Automation Systems and equipment, including Distribution RTUs, line sensors at 66kV and below, 66kV
switches with motor operators installed with remote connectivity.
– Device management software for line sensors and other software used to communicate and configuration management on
IEDs. Analytical software being used for field data gathering and perform analytics, performance analysis and reporting.

Provide support for and maintain all hardware and software-based tools utilized to interact with the distribution automation and
controls and metering equipment used for system visibility.

Ensure that adequate spare parts are available, configuration files are maintained, asset databases inventories and data
required for asset management functions are maintained.

Direct and participate in the creation of test and maintenance procedures in consultation with Distribution Engineering staff
and maintenance staff, for new and existing equipment as well as performance and monitoring criteria, including participation
in the creation and modification of processes, procedures, and training courses.

Interface with designers, manufacturers and software specialists relating to the design, acceptance testing, commissioning
and the operation of distribution automation, monitoring, visibility, controls, and metering systems to ensure operating
requirements are met.

Prepare detailed engineering reports, Concept Project Descriptions (CPDs) and Capital Budget Single line Drawings (CBSLD)
for program item (or capital project) justifications to ensure the timely rehabilitation or orderly replacement of equipment for
maintenance driven projects.

Act as an internal consulting specialist in Distribution Automation to support internal customers on an as-needed basis and
advise leaders on major risk drivers.

Represent Manitoba Hydro in CEATI initiatives/projects related to Grid Modernization.- Administer the supervisory functions
including resourcing, performance management, development and training, and supervision.

Graduate in Electrical, Electronic Engineering from a University of recognized standing with seven years of engineering
experience including five years of directly related power system controls and automation experience.

Professional member in good standing with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba (or willingness and ability to attain within a
specified amount of time).

Demonstrated ability to lead a highly technical team in delivering on complex and critical work requirements.

Demonstrated initiative and ability to plan, organize, schedule, and complete a high volume of work with a strict timeline.

Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain successful working relationships with external and internal contacts in multiple
departments and positions.

Broad and comprehensive knowledge of data communication and control apparatus, system operating procedures and a good
understanding of power system operations and commissioning practices.

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Demonstrated ability to supervise, train and direct technical staff in troubleshooting activities, design changes or regular
maintenance tasks.

Obtain and maintain a current Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) and a “Clear” security rating in accordance with Manitoba
Hydro policy P513.

Must have completed Standards of Conduct training or be willing to complete within two weeks of start date and renewed
annually.

Completed Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Training prior to start date and renewed annually.

Occasional travel to field or office work sites outside the headquarters zone will be required.

Possess a valid province of Manitoba Driver’s Licence with appropriate classification.
Salary Range
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $49.97-$68.46 Hourly,
$95,747.86-$131,177.28 Annually.
