People will count on you to provide overall direction to and management of the department’s employees. You will be responsible for motivating a high performing team that delivers second-to-none customer service, leading by example, and developing inspiring managers. You will drive and influence the way we shape the Personal Lines book of business by evaluating, analyzing, making strategic business decisions.This position is a hybrid position requiring a minimum of 3 days a week in the Calgary office and you will also work closely with and report directly to the Vice President of Personal Lines.What you’ll do here:Drive and achieve profitability, growth, productivity and operational goals through the development and execution of the annual strategic plan, including specific underwriting, pricing, service and expense plansLead, manage, and develop staff by providing ongoing coaching, guidance, and performance feedback and facilitating continuous development and succession planningBe responsible for providing overall communication of and motivating staff to participate in goals, priorities and new directionsBuild productive and profitable relationships with brokers and effectively communicate the strategic direction of Intact and the Southern Alberta regionBe accountable for the delivery of key corporate personal lines initiativesCollaborate with appropriate business units, develop, design and implement workflow/process improvements to accommodate business strategy and provide direction to regional operations on attaining service goalsProvide guidance on business issues, corporate policies and guidelinesDetermine and/or establish key measures to monitor productivity and technical quality, identify opportunities for improvement and enhance essential business processesStay informed of regulatory issues and identify impact to our businessBe accountable for the overall staffing and leadership of the Personal Lines underwriting teams by determining staffing numbers and levels based on established finance and work force management guidelines, including managing department budgetLiaise with the regional and divisional management team, underwriting managers, corporate underwriting, and claims management on technical and administrative issuesYou succeed at what you do because you:Are strategic, goal and action-oriented, and understand the big pictureAre decisive, creative and effective in your approach to complex challengesAre dedicated to the growth of others and have a proven ability to develop, mentor, and train staffStrongly believe in and advocate collaboration and diversity with a customer-centric approachAre known for your ability to influence and motivate people and to drive changeAre a skilled communicator, influencer, and negotiator, which allows you to foster favorable business relationships, both internally and externallyWhat you bring to the table:Demonstrated leadership skills with a minimum 3 years of operational management experience in an Insurance environment.
