Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer (COO), the Director of Programs will provide leadership and direction for all client service areas of the organization in alignment with the organization’s strategic priorities. The Director of Programs position touches all aspects of the organization’s operations, with a particular focus on and responsibility for program development and planning, effective delivery and quality control, community relations, and personnel with a commitment to building an inclusive, collaborative, respectful workplace culture. The position works in consultation with the organization’s leadership team to identify needs, address areas of improvement and ensure compliance with executed grant agreements with funders.What you will be doing:
LeadershipProvide overall leadership, strategy and direction to all programmatic areasFoster a culture of collaboration, innovation, learning and trustRecognize and nurture the leadership potential in othersEffectively lead a team of Department Managers operating in a dynamic environment with multiple prioritiesEmpower team with a shared vision that integrates a variety of perspectivesLead change evolve and adjust as neededAdvise the Leadership Team of program risks, needs and opportunities which may impact the organizationJob descriptionDevelop and implement an operating plan for all program areas that is consistent and aligned with the organization’s strategic planEnsure programming meets the needs and expectations of clients locally and more broadly outside of CalgarySupport the creation and implementation of program logic models, theories of change and evaluative processes necessary to demonstrate outcomesWork closely with the Director of Data, Evaluation, Reporting and Compliance on business solutions for programs, data collection and impact reportingEngage in quality assurance, continuous improvement and redesign of programs as neededWork closely with the Director People & Culture to oversee the implementation ofHuman Resources policies, procedures and practicesEnsure all client services meet the requirements of appropriate legislation, codes of ethics and accreditation standardsRecruit and retain leadership staffFoster a culture of teamwork, accountability, collaboration and continuous improvementCoach and mentor senior management staff, and implement progressive development plans and processes as appropriate to enhance growth and performanceProgram Oversight and Community EngagementEngage closely with the Director of Communications & Stakeholder Relations and other community partners to create awareness of the organization’s program and services, share specialized knowledge in a manner reflective of agency values, and monitor needs of clientsActively participate in creating a culture of philanthropy at the companyForm strategic partnerships and alliances with other service organizations, community groups, funders, and others to help advance organization’s shared goalsAct as a key spokesperson for the agency with community partners and other stakeholdersProvide the COO with timely, thorough, and relevant materials to report on all program activitiesRepresent the organization at community events to enhance the agency’s profileFinancial ManagementImplement program budgets in collaboration with Chief Financial OfficerApprove fund allocation within Program DepartmentsMonitor budget and adjust where necessary to meet program and financial objectivesParticipate with other leaders to ensure the overall financial health of the organizationProvide the COO with timely, thorough, and relevant materials to report on the revenues, expenditures and risks in regards to programmingWhat you must have:Advanced skills in business applications (Microsoft Word, Teams, PowerPoint, and Excel)Experience with data base management systems is requiredExperience with Client Management data bases is a definite assetExperience with all aspects of social media, including Instagram, Facebook, TwitterSkills using virtual meeting platforms (Zoom, Teams) is expectedAbility to effectively manage and prioritize email and calendarA minimum of ten years of progressive management and leadership experience in a non-profit setting with extensive supervisory responsibilitiesA Master’s degree in a related discipline is required, along with a commitment to ongoing professional development.Experience and understanding of the social services sector in CalgaryWork related experience with immigrants, sensitivity and knowledge of immigrant women and cross-cultural issuesKnowledge and experience in program management, communications, marketing, outreach and fund developmentKnowledge and experience in the creation and development of assessment/ data collection tools and logic modelsFinancial literacy and business acumen, including preparing and managing budgetsEffective interpersonal communication skills including strong writing skillsExperience dealing with settlement and integration, language training,employment and family services barriers faced by new immigrantsSound understanding of financial/budget managementStrong organizational and teamwork skills and a collaborative approach to problem-solving and decision-makingProven ability to write complex reports and proposalsStrong research skillsAppreciation and knowledge of cultural diversitySecond language is an assetSecurity ChecksSatisfactory completion of a Police Information Check (PIC) with Vulnerable
