Job Description: OverviewThe Director, Enterprise Risk Management at WorkSafeBC plays a pivotal role in safeguarding the organization’s financial health and strategic objectives. Reporting to the Head of Assessments and Finance and Chief Financial Officer, the Director, Enterprise Risk Management is integral to the development and execution of robust risk management strategies that align with WorkSafeBC’s mission and values.In this role, you’ll be responsible for developing and implementing mitigating risk strategies to ensure the organization’s financial stability and strategic success. The incumbent will provide leadership and direction to key stakeholders, ensuring the effective implementation of WorkSafeBC and divisional strategies, business plans, and policies in the delivery of quality, client-focused service.You’ll also play a critical role in leading WorkSafeBC’s enterprise risk management, business continuity management, and fraud detection/mitigation functions. The Director will also be responsible for managing the corporate insurance portfolio, overseeing corporate-wide risk, play a pivotal role in strategic planning and reporting to the Enterprise Leadership Team (ELT).Introducing a brand-new role within our organization, this position is ideal for a visionary leader with a robust background in risk management, financial oversight, and strategic thinking.   • Spearhead the development and execution of a robust enterprise risk management strategy that includes risk identification, assessment, and mitigation across the organization, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Design and implement a holistic risk and fraud management framework that establishes clear policies and procedures, fostering a proactive culture of risk awareness throughout the organization.
  • Lead the creation and maintenance of comprehensive business continuity and disaster recovery plans to safeguard operational resilience and ensure seamless recovery in the face of potential disruptions, protecting organizational assets and stakeholder interests.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of corporate financial internal controls and develop strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing financial processes, ensuring compliance, and optimizing resource allocation to support sustainable business growth.
  • Coordinate and communicate the divisional strategic plan in partnership with other members of the financial team.

  • Demonstrate sound understanding of financial control and reporting concepts.

Your background and experience

  • A university degree in Finance, Business Administration, Risk Management, or related discipline
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in progressive leadership role within financial services and/or risk and fraud management.
  • Experience managing highly effective teams.
  • Canadian Risk Management Designation (CRM) or equivalent certification
  • Chartered Professional Accountant designation (CPA)
  • Associate Business Continuity Professional (ABCP) through DRI International
  • Certified Internal Audit designation (CIA) is considered an asset
  • Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) designation through DRI International is considered an asset
