Job Description: Job Summary Group Risk Management is responsible for providing independent and objective oversight of the management of significant risks arising from RBC Investor Services’ businesses and operations, supported by comprehensive risk management frameworks, policies and practices, robust risk management systems, and experienced professionals. Key internal and external stakeholders rely on the effective execution of GRM accountabilities. The roles and responsibilities of the various internal stakeholders in the ownership, monitoring, escalation and oversight of risks are captured in RBC’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework and supporting risk-specific frameworks.Job DescriptionWhat is the Opportunity?The Group Risk Management (GRM) is responsible for providing independent and objective oversight of the management of significant risks arising from RBC Investor Services’ businesses and operations, supported by comprehensive risk management frameworks, policies and practices, robust risk management systems, and experienced professionals.Key internal and external stakeholders rely on the effective execution of GRM accountabilities. The roles and responsibilities of the various internal stakeholders in the ownership, monitoring, escalation and oversight of risks are captured in RBC’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework and supporting risk-specific frameworks.What will you do?
- Represent GRM on committees in a Director and Deputy CRO of RBCIS Trust capacity.
- As the most senior member of GRM IS Trust, there is a special responsibility to manage the relationships with the business and other functions.
- Proactive identification of emerging risks (operational, liquidity, credit, market, reputational risk and escalation of these as appropriate.
- Own and maintain IS Trust enterprise risk frameworks and with focus on;
- Responsible for oversight of risk appetite statement for IS Trust and Risk reporting to senior management and IS Trust Board of Directors.
- Responsible for establishing credit risk and managing the credit approval process for Tier 1 subsidiary, as defined in the RBC Investor Services’ Trust Credit Risk Management Framework:
- This includes establishing and maintaining an appropriate rating-based credit limit framework for IS Trust.
- Responsible for reporting to senior management and Board of Directors with the entity’s current credit risk profile and trend.
- Represent IS Trust on the RBCIS Trust ALCO.
- Provide a successful challenge, as a 2nd line of defense, to the policies and frameworks from Corporate Treasury, and be able to speak to concerns in the monthly ALCO meetings.
- Leverage knowledge of the IS Trust frameworks and lead discussions with GRM Non-Trading and Liquidity to make sure that there is consistency on a total firm basis.
- Responsible for providing the Liquidity and SIRR trend analysis to the IS Trust Board of Directors report.
What do you need to succeed?
- 10 years experience in financial services
- Bachelors Degree quantitative discipline
- Experience in financial services
- Proven communication skills (both writing and presentation)
- Strong knowledge of the custody or depositary bank business and its products
- Ability to handle complexity and work in a matrix environment;
- Proven people management experience
- Proven ability to deal effectively with conflict
- Diplomatic and constructive in negotiation, excellent stakeholder management skills
