- Developing external and internal communications strategies that drive the CEO’s leadership profile, Tangerine’s brand, culture and strategic positioning.
- Creating and supporting an inspirational communications environment, finding creative ways to connect employees with the organization’s purpose, goals and strategy through impactful and inspiring storytelling and using innovative communication techniques.
- Protecting Tangerine’s brand/reputation and providing effective cross-functional leadership in any crisis situation. Identifying challenges and emerging issues faced by the organization.
- Partnering with HR and leadership on strategies to equip leaders with the skills they need to drive dialogue and engage employees.
- Liaising with Scotiabank ESG team(s) to execute on programs including philanthropic donations and community involvement.
- Bringing your expertise to various change initiatives and bring effective internal communications to life to help employees be informed.
- Work with the Tangerine Management team to develop executive profiles, laddering to the Tangerine brand and promoting visibility, externally and internally.
- Work collaboratively with communications and marketing teams, as appropriate, on bank-wide editorial calendars and timing.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Lead the development of external and internal corporate communications strategy, overall narrative and PR to support Tangerine’s strategic goals, brand positioning, employee engagement and the protection of Tangerine’s reputation.
- Develop both the brand and narrative for the CEO in both her capacity as President & CEO of Tangerine and as Executive Vice President of Scotiabank and support various CEO media/external presentations, external/internal panels and employee Town Halls.
- Be responsible for Tangerine’s ESG strategy development and execution.
- Responsible for driving the strategy forward for DEI in conjunction with various DEI teams across the enterprise and Executive Champions within Tangerine. Responsible for the execution of all key “days of inclusion” events.
- Lead the Community Investment team in developing and evolving our “community giving” strategy in support of Tangerine’s communities and build greater brand awareness through our investments. Develop community involvement opportunities in partnership with business lines.
- Accountable for the Project Forward strategy and measurement of the impact we are having with our partners and in our communities.
- Provide strategic advice and guidance to the Office of the President on all Client related issues – particularly those referencing the CEO.
- Strategize and deliver a robust employee engagement strategy, calendarized for maximum impact. Plan and execute a variety of “key moments” for employees across our footprints.
- Work with key stakeholders to develop and maintain Tangerine’s overall strategic communications calendar.
- Partner across the organization on various change initiatives and drive the agenda for change-related communications in service of employees.
- Be responsible for the overall Communications & ESG budget.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:
- A minimum of 8-10 years of professional communications experience with a proven track record of outstanding results.
- A minimum of 3 years of people and project management experience with direct reports.
- University Degree/College Diploma or equivalent experience in Communications.
- Solid understanding of communication theory and best practices.
- Advanced writing, editing, and presentation skills.
- A strategic understanding of channels in relation to internal and external communications needs.
- The ability to deal with ambiguity and tight deadlines while working effectively in a team environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others.
