Job Description: The Canadian Opera Company is now accepting applications for the position of Development Officer, Advancement Operations.PURPOSE OF ROLEThe Canadian Opera Company (COC) is in the midst of a bold revitalization, with an artistic vision and operating objectives that champion innovative and inclusive programming, new creative partnerships, and expanded community reach. To help us seize this exciting moment, the COC is growing its team to help us achieve our goals as we elevate the very best opera in the world, from canon classics to daring new offerings breaking ground right here in Canada.The Development Officer, Advancement Operations will be responsible for the efficient entry of accurate information into the donor database (Tessitura) and other systems for the purpose of gift processing which includes the preparation and processing of gifts, donor acknowledgement and receipting, digital archiving and updating donor records as they relate to donor giving. The Development Officer, Advancement Operations will also support the success of the development team by assisting with the maintenance of the Tessitura database, and providing reporting and analysis on membership and donation data.AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITYGift Processing and Membership Billing

  • Process and enter all gifts received by the COC in a timely and accurate manner, including data entry into the Tessitura system and associated record keeping/digital archiving
  • Run recurring membership billing batches, ensuring membership records are kept up to date, and in good standing
  • Process, enter, and reconcile deposits from third-party platforms such as CanadaHelps and Benevity
  • Consult with Development team to ensure the accurate coding of gifts
  • Ensure timely processing and fulfillment of tax receipts

Database Management

  • Assist with the maintenance of the Tessitura system by entering new donor information, keeping existing records up to date, and surfacing any opportunities or concerns to the Development team
  • Provide project support for data hygiene, including deduplication, batch record updates, and data uploads
  • Update credit card or banking information for membership records in a timely manner
  • Follow established protocols for data entry and management to ensure consistency and quality

Reporting and Analysis

  • Prepare reports on donation activity and data hygiene including pledge reminders, billing errors, and duplicate records
  • Reconcile gift entries with the Finance team to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies
  • Assist with the maintenance and development of reports and business intelligence infrastructure
  • Monitor and maintain a schedule of recurring reports in Tessitura
  • Respond to reporting and/or analysis requests from the Development and Finance teams, including support for the annual audit, t3010 submission, and ad hoc requests.
