  • Provide leadership and direction for planning and executing general elections, byelections, and referendums.
  • Innovate in election delivery through research, development of plans, policies, and potential legislation.
  • Ensure the organization operates in a non-partisan, independent, and trusted manner.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans and projects across departments to ensure effective election delivery.
  • Oversee planning, operations, budgeting, expenditures, contract management, human resources, information technology, legislation, and electoral events.
  • Align annual and election activities to maintain election readiness and meet deadlines.
  • Stay informed about external activities and issues impacting elections and organizational activities.
  • Lead, coach, and guide staff to deliver high-quality services.
  • Provide responsive and excellent service to all stakeholders.
  • Manage competing interests and demands while upholding the legislative mandate, mission, and values of the organization.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Non-Partisanship: Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to neutrality, with no past political affiliations or activities that could affect public confidence.
  • Leadership: Experience in leading and supporting teams, with the ability to act as the CEO in the CEO’s absence.
  • People Management: Strong skills in coaching, guiding, and developing staff, with a commitment to professional development and continuous learning.
  • Strategic and Project Management: Proven ability to develop and implement strategic plans and manage complex projects involving multiple departments and stakeholders.
  • Legislative Knowledge: A willingness to learn and the capability to understand and interpret legal language, including legislation such as the Elections Act and Elections Finance Act.
  • Innovation and Flexibility: Creative and analytical thinking to manage logistics, budgets, and data while being fluid and flexible in a dynamic environment.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Must possess strong problem-solving skills to address emerging issues in consultation with staff and other relevant groups.
