Title of the Job: Delivery Manager

Location: Toronto, ON

Job Description: Location Address: Hybrid – 333 King Street E – 1-2/week (Tues, Wed, Thurs but team dependent/subject to change)
Contract Duration: 6 months
Possibility of extension & conversion to FTE
Schedule Hours: 9am-5pm Monday-Friday; standard 37.5 hrs/weekTypical Day in Role:

  • Work with a team to identify roadmap/feature dependencies and impediments. Being accountable for tracking the dependencies and impediments and removing them to enable the team: surface, track, escalate
  • Guide and coach the team to follow agile practices
  • Regularly communicate with other Squads to ensure tactical story alignment and identifies/tracks dependencies between the team.
  • Facilitate discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution. Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised and resolved.
  • Assists in the identification and mitigation of project risks.
  • Identifies and acts on coaching opportunities at the individual and team level.
  • Conducts regular assessments of a team Agile Maturity and uses the results to guide them to improved performance.
  • Facilitate agile ceremonies (Daily Scrum, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review, and Retrospective) and longer-term planning exercises (Release Planning, Release Train Planning).
  • Support the Product Owner, especially with respect to story grooming and maintaining the product backlog.
  • Pro-actively identify and mitigate risks using Agile best practices and project deliverables
  • Needs to forecast the numbers of deliverables, which is based on evidence and reliable source.
  • Needs to be expert in estimating and planning. Knows how to create useful, reliable and practical plans for software development projects
  • Provide regular, standardized reporting for team performance: velocity, stories completed and project status.
  • Work closely with the Finance to ensure the alignment of budgets, spend and forecasts. Also, Support budget tracking and variance mitigation efforts for the delivery team
  • Coordinate operation readiness activities with associated teams (security, infrastructure, network, etc)
  • Oversee and coordinate software release activities.
  • Active participation and help assist in timely decision making in defining product backlog (working with Product Owner, Business Analyst); alignment to overall product architecture and technical design (working with Architect and Tech Leads)
  • Provide regular, standardized reporting for team performance: velocity, stories completed and project status.
  • Regularly reviewing sprint review and retrospective feedback and action items with them ensuring they are laser focused on efficient, quality engineering delivery

Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:
1. 10+ years of previous combined experience as a Delivery Lead/Delivery Manager/Senior PM with Scrum experience
2. 5+ years’ experience with backlog tracking, Scrum and Kanban based metrics, task definition, story splitting.
3. Demonstrated experience with software development processes and procedures to understand the team needs – SDLC
4. 3+ years’ experience working in an Agile environment, with common development practices and in service-oriented environments
5. 3+ years hands-on experience leading release management activities for successful delivery of product launches and working with the team on day-today activitiesNice-To-Have Skills:
1. 2+ years’ experience as a Scrum Master
2. Pega experience
3. A big plus is experience as Delivery Lead role for Scotia Digital
4. Experience as a Program Manager working with multiple complex initiatives, within banking
5. Working experience in JIRA/Confluence
6. Experience with System Design and work independent of Architect on creating pragmatic solutions to technical problems, working with the scrum team.Soft Skills Required:

  • Great communication skills -oral and written
  • Demonstrated high level of analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Diplomatic yet willing to have hard conversations with team members, products owner and delivery partners when there are challenges, issues impeding delivery execution – people skills
  • Solid analytical and critical thinking skills with an ability to communicate at levels with all key organizational partners
  • Need to be able to hit the ground running

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree – Software Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent an asset
  • CSM an asset
  • PMP an asset
  • Scrum At Scale an asset

Best VS. Average Candidate:
Someone who can handle multiple initiatives at this time, acting as a pseudo-program manager, has good knowledge of Agile and Scrum, and can lead a high performing Agile team. Has worked in Delivery Lead role for Scotia Digital is a strong asset, or with Digital Channels in an FI; Pega experience would set them apart to be able to provide expertise on the project.
