Job Description: Job Description:We are looking for a Data Management and Component Engineer to be part of a multi-functional product development team with individual responsibility in the following areas.

  • Configuration Management: Responsible for the Configuration Management (CM) activities, which ensure that all CM functions relative to identification, configuration change, status accounting are maintained in accordance with CM practices and Quality Assurance standards. The CM specialist must be facilitating CM boards as required and be capable of supporting the analysis of a proposed Engineering Change Request (ECR), and the implementation of approved ECRs to be incorporated into the product.
  • Component Engineer: Accountable for liaison with corporate Technology Standardization (TS) group, engineering, procurement, electro-mechanical design teams, component manufacturers to create and manage accurate engineering components data.

This is a full-time position at our Montreal design-center.What will you do?

  • Manage the PDM/PLM system for configuration management of the product including analysis of requirements, system configuration, customization and data loading.
  • Support the Engineering Change Request (ECR) analysis, and Engineering Change Order (ECO) implementation as Subject Matter Expert.
  • Work closely with Product Development, Purchasing, Quality Assurance, Industrialization and Manufacturing teams to ensure configuration management processes are integrated seamlessly.
  • Facilitate Configuration Change Board (CCB) meetings to discuss and approve proposed changes.
  • Support of design teams in the component selection (Discrete Semiconductor, Connectors, Analog & Digital ICs, etc.) in collaboration with corporate technology standardization management group.
  • Ensure components are compliant to application requirements and corporate rules (quality, supplier strategy, environmental, sustainability, etc.).
  • Warrant proposed changes are fully developed & assessed from a CM perspective (interchangeability, part number control, etc.) and verify that the details populated are clear, concise, and valid while meeting all defined requirements.
  • Create, maintain, update and approve data in component databases.
  • Facilitate communication and interactions between suppliers, internal design, industrialization and purchasing teams.
  • Own product packaging and label design practices, and related activities.

What qualifications will make you successful for this role?

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Electrical engineering, or technologist/electronic technician with related experience
  • At minimum 5 years of professional experience in Product Development, Configuration Management and/or Component Engineering
  • Working knowledge of Engineering Data Management systems (such as Windchill PDM, ARENA PLM)
  • Knowledge of electrical systems and components, with ability to interpret engineering documentation, product structures, and terminology
  • An effective communicator, able to articulate complex solutions clearly and concisely
  • Comfortable and effective with rapidly changing, or at times, competing priorities
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to work effectively in teams
  • Curious and capable of independent learning
  • Competent with Databases and Excel for data management
  • Fluent in French and English (spoken and written)
