We’re united by a shared commitment to excellent and equitable health care.Position OverviewThe Shared Health Mental Health and Addictions provide a range of mental health and addiction services across the healthcare continuum that support and promote recovery. Through collaboration and partnership across various health services, social services and community sectors, Shared Health Mental Health and Addiction strives to promote mental health and well-being for all, to reduce inequities, to improve access and coordination to minimize the impact of mental health and addiction issues for individuals and families and to work towards the sustainability of mentally healthy individuals and communities.Child and Youth (CY) Treatment Services within Mental Health and Addictions, Shared Health has developed two new services and teams to provide an immediate response for children and youth experiencing a mental health crisis, along with supporting their families, care providers, and professional supports. One service will be a virtual province-wide service, while the other will be Winnipeg-based, both virtual and in person in community. These services will provide timely consultation to service providers who deliver treatment resources to the child and youth population suffering with mental and emotional health challenges; and direct time-limited intervention to children and youth to support community stabilization. The crisis service teams will work with the youth and community to fill service gaps, reduce barriers, and create pathways to existing services.With a trauma informed and equity informed perspectives these services connect youth to existing resource supports “close to home”. Brief treatment may be provided in collaboration with community partnerships utilizing anti-racist, culturally informed and a person centric approach. Thus, allowing for increased safety for a diverse inclusive population of youth. Low barrier service delivery with smooth service transition is emphasized. We know in Manitoba a high proportion of children and youth that require or use mental health and addictions services may be from Indigenous communities and backgrounds. This role requires a leader who can foster a team environment that is well positioned to support indigenous clients and families that may require these services. This includes identifying and developing improved pathways to service for Indigenous clients.MAIN FUNCTION:
Under the general direction of the Manager – Child and Youth Treatment Services, Mental Health and Addictions, Share Health and in collaboration with the Crisis Response Services clinical team, the incumbent is responsible for providing clinical services to individuals under the age of 18 years in mental health or psychosocial crisis.Experience

  • Four years related community experience – child and adolescent mental health experience preferred.

The Crisis Response Centre has a mandate to provide service in French; preference will be given to bilingual (French/English) candidates.Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • BN or RPN required.
  • Knowledge of Crisis Intervention Theory.
  • Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST).
  • Suicide Assessment and Intervention Training.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle preferred
  • Responsible for maintaining and providing proof of active registration with the appropriate registering body.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Effective Crisis Intervention Skills.
  • Expertise in the area of mental health.
  • Experience working within brief treatment models preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse and vulnerable populations.
  • Experience utilizing virtual models to care considered an asset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective networking and agency relations skills.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment.
