Job Description: The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) requires a Crime Analyst Section Manager to provide direction in the operation and management of the Crime Analysis Section. Responsibilities of this position include:
- Development, recommendation, and implementation of Edmonton Police Service policy and procedures as it relates to the section.
- Lead, supervise and mentor Criminal Intelligence Analyst Supervisors.
- Development of training and mentorship programs for Criminal Intelligence Analysts.
- Development of the EPS Criminal Intelligence Analyst understudy program.
- Management of the section budget; creating annual section budget in addition to monthly financial reporting.
- Review and approval of work submissions from Criminal Intelligence Analysts to ensure compliance with industry and academic standards.
- Establish section performance goals and objectives to ensure that the section is operating in an efficient manner.
- Manage the alignment of organizational performance and criminal intelligence analysis with the EPS Annual Policing plan.
- Provide expert consultation in the design, implementation, and continual improvement of a performance management system, analytical methodologies and criminal intelligence applications to all levels of the organization.
- Lead and manage criminal intelligence analytical and development projects including research protocols.
- Acting as a representative on committees as they relate to improvements in analytical practices.
- Manage and ensure optimum technical performance within work areas.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology or related field of study.
- Degree or diploma in Business Administration is an asset.
- Certification by a professional organization in crime or intelligence analysis.
- Project Management Professional certification is an asset.
- 7 years’ experience working as a Criminal Intelligence Analyst.
- 2-5 years of supervisory/management experience including developing policy, position descriptions, training programs and managing budgets.
- Strong background in intelligence-led policing, knowledge management, and criminal intelligence research and processes.
- Knowledge of spatial, strategic and tactical analysis methods and practices.
- Strong computer skills relevant to crime analysis (Microsoft Office and GIS applications).
- ArcGIS, iBase EPROS, I-Mobile, and/or Cognos experience will be considered an asset.
- Experience in preparing technical reports to an academic standard.
- Experience in preparing and making recommendations based on analyzed information.
- High understanding of legislation pertinent to assigned area, court procedures and requirements regarding evidence and expert witness testimony.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

- As part of your pre-hire screening, you will be required to complete an Enhanced Security Clearance. Should you accept employment with the Edmonton Police Service you acknowledge and agree to participate in future Enhanced Security Re-Clearances at scheduled intervals or in any other circumstances, exigent or otherwise, as required by Human Resources Division.
Hours of Work:
36.9 hours per week, Monday – Friday. Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of variable hours of work program.Salary Range:
95M, Salary Grade ML3, $128,892.64 – $161,115.33 (Annually).General:
