Mount Royal University has provided continuing education to the Calgary community and beyond for more than 60 years. We offer more than 1,000 courses and 100 certificate and diploma programs and have more than 50,000 course registrations each year. Our courses cover a wide range of sectors, including but not limited to social services, business, and health. Event Logistics
semester: winter 2025 and ongoingCourse Description: Examine how event logistics are used to plan the activities and timelines for your attendees. Learn organizational skills to effectively manage multiple components of events and attend to details while maintaining the big picture.Course Learning Outcomes:

  • understand the parameters established for an event and how to begin the planning process reviewing the vision and goals of the event.
  • further develop and assess the importance of the subcontractors, the services and elements that are required for each event.
  • complete a detailed critical path up to the event.
  • complete a comprehensive site plan for an event.
  • identify the basics of protocol and the implications.

The instructor will use the approved curriculum; implementation of applicable curriculum assessment measures; marking and submitting final course grades. The instructor will also be required to maintain regular contact with the administration team and adhere to program policies and deadlines. Students in this class are part of the Event Management program.Instruction:

  • Lesson preparation
  • Course delivery via online format including hosting a virtual Google Meet session with students once per week or at least twice during the course maintaining regular contact with students
  • Marking/grading
  • Facilitate course delivery using approved curriculum and learning materials
  • An online instructor is required to access the course daily; however, there are no predetermined times of the day an instructor is required to be online. Online instructors must have reliable internet service throughout the entire period of the course.
  • Reply to students within 24-48 hours.

Administration:

  • Marking and submission of course grades
  • Maintain regular contact with the program administrative team
  • Participate in virtual instructor meetings and individual meetings with the program coordinator as required
  • Participate in meetings and adhere to program policies and deadlines

Qualifications:

  • Credential in a related field or minimum 3 years’ experience working in this field
  • Working knowledge of copyright and APA citation
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Instructional experience in an adult education environment is an asset
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Self-motivated and self-directed
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace
  • Proficiency with the D2L learning management system is an asset
