Des discussions fréquentes soit par écrit ou verbal avec des fournisseurs, des clients et des collègues anglophones seront nécessaires.SCOPE OF POSITIONThe Cost Accountant is responsible for calculating and tracking operating costs such as labour, raw material, overhead, inventory etc.; analyzing changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods etc to determine the effect on costs; comparing factors affecting prices and productivity; preparing ad-hoc summaries and variance reports; as well as implementing related cost accounting policies, systems and procedures.PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBLITIESWithin the limits of applicable policies, procedures and established plans, he/she has authority to take action and make decisions. The assignment of work or delegation or responsibility does not relinquish responsibility for results. Performance will be measured by the extent to which the responsibilities have been fulfilled.Functional Responsabilities

  • Act as sole custodian of the standard costing system.
  • Analyze actual costs to standard costs and make the appropriate recommendations
  • Calculate machine hour, direct labor, burden, and overhead rates to be used in standard cost formulation.
  • Ensure integrity of costing data.
  • Manage the job close procedure within the required time frame in order to ensure accurate and timely information.
  • Ensure integrity of routings and structures in MFG/PRO in conjunction with the Product Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Formulate and apply transfer pricing policy as required.
  • Identify problems arising from product attributes and report findings along with recommendations to the Manufacturing and Marketing departments.
  • Monitor inventory accounts for irregularities and report low, excessive, or aged levels to the Purchasing Manager.
  • Ensure integrity of inventory accounts through reconciliation
  • Review weekly financials to uncover pending problems (solve)
  • Assist in month/year end financial statement preparation.
  • Assist with monthly and year-end financial reporting requirements
  • Assist in yearly budget preparation and data formulation.
  • Facilitate development of others within the department
  • Backup certain Controller functions as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned from time-to-time.

QUALIFICATIONSEducation & Experience

  • University degree in business or accounting and 1-3 yrs experience in a MRP environment;
  • Professional accounting designation or working towards a designation

  • Solid understanding of business fundamentals
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Detail oriented
