Our team members have what they need to make a meaningful impact and are truly valued for who they are and what they contribute.To learn more about CIBC, please visitWhat you’ll be doingThe Application Engineering Capital Markets, Personal Banking & Direct Financial Services Technology, provides Tier 1 service for Retail Banking and parts of Wholesale Banking, as well as key enterprise technology capabilities such as Enterprise Customer Information, Enterprise Integration and Messaging Services and Electronic Payment Services. As a “Consultant, Application Development” you will join CIBC’s Application Engineering development team, with responsibility to convert specifications about business requirements into programming instructions. Review, analyze, and modify programming systems, including detail design, coding, testing, debugging and primarily back-end development of Java/Spring Framework based applications supporting the enterprise customer information system. You will maintain records to document program development and will provide support for existing production applications. This role is comprised of approximately 20% design, 70% development, and 10% support and continuous improvement for customization/enhancement and maintenance related project work.How you’ll succeedDesign and development: Perform and coordinate complex application programming activities, develop specifications, code, test, debug, document, and adjust in order to ensure successful implementation and maintenance of various application components.Managing Multiple Priorities: Manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups or activities. Effective judgment in prioritizing and time allocation. Ability to process information with high levels of accuracy.Application Development Tools / Process: Demonstrate knowledge of a variety of tools and toolkits for development and support of applications. Knowledge of major tasks, deliverables, formal methodologies and disciplines for delivering new or enhanced applications.Interpersonal Relationships: Demonstrate knowledge of approaches, tools and techniques for working with individuals, teams, and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.Who you areYou can demonstrate experience in 7+ years of Java application development and support. You can clearly demonstrate technical understanding of Java/J2EE, SQL, SOAP-XML/REST-JSON, Microservices, YAML, XSD, UML, Spring, Spring boot, Event Driven Development, Solace/PubSub+ platform, Linux/REHL, Docker, OpenShift, Unix Shell Scripts, GitHub bash, SVN, Maven/Ant, Junit, JIRA-Confluence, Scrum, Blackduck, Fortify, Sonar. You have work experience in Agile, Iterative and Software Delivery Life Cycle (SDLC). Ideally, you have strong verbal & written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to articulate yourself clearly to technology partners.You’re motivated by collective success.
