The Claims Consultant, in collaboration with the claims team is responsible for accessing and creating claim-related management reports, including ensuring the integrity of the database as it relates to claim information, and supporting other departments who require such reports for management or informational purposes. The basic purpose is to administer MROC’s rights and duties under its Property and Casualty contracts with clients by determining on a timely basis the potential and ultimate loss exposures, reserving adequately for those claims and controlling these loss exposures to an equitable disposition through co-operation with the client company. - Confirm and interpret the applicability of the reinsurance contract to the reinsured loss reports
- Develop and analyse loss information to the extent necessary to determine valid and timely reinsurance reserves
- Counsel, negotiate, and reserve our rights with ceding companies as loss report and/or reinsurance contract issues may require
- Conduct diary management patterns that reflect proper case management
- Present claims to management that require additional analysis and evaluation
- Validate the accuracy of cash calls and make prompt payments
- Initiate and participate in inter-department communications to clarify and/or inform on reinsured issues, disputes and needs
- In collaboration with other members of the claim team conduct field claim reviews at the offices of clients or prospects
- Run monthly reports from data base in collaboration with claim team
- Prepare quarterly large loss meeting materials
- Key responsibility for claim intake in collaboration with Claims team and RIA
- Maintain personal contact with claims staff of ceding companies
- Manage and administer special projects assigned by Management
- Represent Claims team on ad hoc project work
- Engage in frequent discussions with peers and management to develop consistent and united approach on issues and clients and communicates with other line and department representatives on specific claim issues.
- Represent claims objectives and responsibilities on “Client Teams” with other department representatives.
- Maintain liaison with branch personnel, accounting, underwriting, client management and actuary personnel; establish and maintain solid working relationship with our clients and brokers
- Maintain good profile in the industry by attending and participating in industry associations and functions.

- You have a University Degree; law, business or finance degree is an asset
- Are working towards Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) / Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional (FCIP) designation
- Possess a minimum of 5-7 years practical general claims experience
- Have well developed and effective written and oral communication skills
- Good familiarity with Microsoft operating systems (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Possess strong investigative and analytical skills in and assessing problems
- Have excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills
- Have a strong work ethic with good self-discipline and independently motivated
- You have an ability/willingness to learn, change and experiment
- Hold a solid working knowledge of property and casualty claims
- You are able to demonstrate accuracy and an eye for attention to detail
- Enjoy the opportunity to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Possess good business and general insurance acumen
- You are client focused; people-oriented and responsive
- Have an ability to articulate and contribute to the corporate vision
- Possess the ability to develop and nurture working relationships within Munich Re North America and within the broader Munich Re Group
