Title of the Job: Civil/Structural Engineer

Location: Calgary, AB

Job Description: Our client, a Engineering Consultancy, is seeking an Civil/Structural Engineer for their operation in Greater Calgary, AB. This position can be as a permanent staff or as a Incorporated Consultant. They have a flexible work environment, includes hybrid and work from home options, which will be discussed further in the interview process. The project focus will be undergrounds power utility distribution projects.Required Education/Experience

• A Bachelor’s degree or a Technology diploma in Civil or Structural Engineering, additional engineering backgrounds will be considered
• Five (5) – Ten (10) + years of civil/structural engineering exp. within high density environments (site development, utility underground structures etc.)
• Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Canada
• Exposure to utility standards, CSA, and an understanding of powerline construction techniques
• Ability to work in design teams and is self-motivated to perform assigned tasks, and take the initiative to learn the position
• The ability to lead and direct a team of engineers, designers, and drafters
• Experience using the Microsoft Office software suite

Desired Experience (will be considered an asset)

• Experience in the design, operation, construction, and maintenance of reinforced cast in place underground utility vaults
• Prior utility design experience or distribution/transmission underground line work is highly preferred
• Strong computer design skills, the ability to learn new software packages efficiently, and retain and apply on the job training
• Must have strong written and oral communication skills in the English language to communicate effectively with internal team members and external client personnel
• Managerial and leadership experience is an asset

Roles and Responsibilities

• Develop new designs by applying knowledge of electric utility systems and their operation
• Apply engineering calculations to various project challenges to develop complete and competent designs
• Compilation of design packages for construction
• Perform quality reviews of project deliverables
• Authenticate finished designs and deliverables for client construction
• Network with clients and maintain client relationship
• Some travel will be required
