Responsible for delivering the new business booking objectives that will drive revenue growth for the business unit. This role involves defining product strategies and roadmaps, gathering market requirements, generating prospective opportunities, validating leads, creating capture strategies, leading bids and proposals, and building relationships with current and future customers. He works closely with the Sales, Marketing, Program and Engineering teams.As a Business Development Manager, your day-to-day responsibilities include:New Business Growth: Identify and research potential business opportunities, including new markets, adjacencies, and partnerships. Identify prospects and qualify leads. Develop and maintain an active pipeline of opportunities in alignment and consistent with the business unit’s strategy and goals. Responsible for the timely, accurate and complete update of CRM entries. Ensure the annual new business plan objectives are achieved.Business Strategy: Develop strategies to “shape” requirements and customer acquisition strategy. Monitor industry trends and customer needs to anticipate market changes and adapt business strategies accordingly. Develop and implement strategic plans to expand the company’s market presence and achieve new business booking targets.Product Strategy & Roadmap: Define the product strategy and roadmap based on market research, customer needs, and business objectives. Own, create and maintain the business requirements and associated product roadmap, and ensure that the product meets market needs. Drive alignment between the business requirements and the technical implementation of the product roadmap. Prepare and maintain product business cases, as well as growth strategies.Product Marketing: Work with Marketing to develop and support marketing strategies, campaigns, materials and events. Lead new product launch activities such as branding, press releases, and sales training.Customer-Centric Approach: Forge strong, lasting relationships with customers and actively promote our capabilities and strengths. Understand assigned customer’s organization, culture, structure, key decision makers and decision making process. Ensure the customer perspective is at the heart of every business and product decision.Forecasting: Track and report on business development activities, including pipeline management and booking forecasts. Provides accurate and timely new business forecasts of the product line performance.Bids & Proposals leadership: Drive the development of winning strategies for bids and proposals by defining compelling value propositions, applying value-based pricing models, and crafting tailored offerings that meet customer needs while maximizing competitiveness and profitability. Ensure alignment with business objectives and coordinate cross-functional efforts to deliver successful outcomes. Collaborate with sales, marketing, program and engineering teams to develop customized solutions and proposals for customers. Prepare and seek approval for bids.Culture Carrier: Drive high standards for individual, team, and organizational achievement by applying CMC’s value creation model, having a strong bias for action, and using data to drive decision making. Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and open and honest communication.Engagement: Travel up to 20-30% to engage with customers, attend tradeshows, and participate in various industry events.To join our team, you must hold:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering. MBA will be considered an asset
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in the Aerospace and Defense industry, with at least five (5) years in a similar role.
  • Good aerospace / avionics technical knowledge to be able to understand CMC’s product lines and present them to customers
  • Proven experience in business development and capture management, supporting the development of opportunity pipelines and leading captures of $25M+
  • Must demonstrate high energy, integrity, strong business and financial acumen, professionalism and commitment
  • Proven ability to anticipate market trends, identify future opportunities, and align business strategies for success
  • Data-driven with an analytical approach to decision making
  • Demonstrated success in managing and enhancing customer relations, with a focus on growth, satisfaction and retention
  • Adaptable and effective in driving positive change within an organization
  • Eligible for Canadian and NATO Secret clearance.
