Job Description: Job Description:Horton Automatics of Ontario is looking for an automatic door technician apprentice who is skilled with hand and power tools to assist their learning towards installing and servicing automatic door equipment.We supply, install, and service all brands of automatic door equipment. We service commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential properties (new construction and retrofit).ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.We are looking for a successful candidate who will be responsible for troubleshooting door service calls and perform repairs along with scheduled maintenance on equipment based on customers demand. Successful Technician will promote our service and products in a professional manner and provide customer satisfaction when taking care of the customer.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & JOB DUTIES

  • Complete installations and service as required on automatic door equipment, manual door, and door hardware.
  • Paid on-call rotation for “after-hours” service.
  • Responsible for inventory in a company vehicle.

KEY COMPETENCIES & EXPERIENCE

  • Proficient in operating hand and power tools.
  • Must be able to lift 100 pounds.
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Ability to coordinate and communicate with contractors and other tradesman.
  • Must have active G class driver’s license.
  • Physical ability to lift, bend, climb ladders, work on knees for extended periods of time.
  • Fluent in English
  • A background in electronics
  • A background in doors/door hardware
  • To work independently and as part of a team.
  • Communicates effectively.
  • Instills trust.

Qualifications:EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
  • Some construction experience preferred

LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read and interpret documents such as installation manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to calculate basic math and read a tape measureREASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
