Salary band: $54,017 – $67,522

Closing Date: October 20, 2024About the Role
The Associate, Granting & Governance role will report directly to the Director, Granting & Governance. The incumbent candidate will play a critical role and utilize problem solving, analytical and critical thinking skills to help deliver on a portfolio of donor funded projects and initiatives. This involves an emphasis on the granting aspects of the design, planning, implementation, and coordination surrounding the ideation and delivery of these projects in partnership with both internal and external partners.You will:

  • Assist in analyzing complex issues related to funding allocation
  • Monitor grant projects to ensure effective and efficient execution
  • Evaluate and improve workflows, as well as develop project plans/schedules, standard operation procedures, tools and templates
  • Support the development and implementation of a comprehensive and integrated approach to measure and report to donors the financial impact of donations
  • Work creatively and analytically demonstrating teamwork, innovation and excellence
  • Identify complex issues and risks in real-time, and ideate options for resolution and make informed recommendations for the appropriate course of action and sustainable solutions
  • Exercise sound judgment to escalate issues and concerns proactively
  • Develop progress reports, briefing materials and other resources tailored to diverse stakeholder groups, including project teams, senior leadership and key external partners
  • Conduct and synthesize environmental scans for relevant and material trends, information and data that apply to the continuous improvement of granting programs/processes as well as fund management
  • Build and nurture relationship with key internal and external stakeholders

QualificationsYou have:

  • University or college degree or equivalent work experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint); advanced skills in Excel and Visio are an asset
  • Natural problem solver who can see the big picture but understand the details
  • Understanding of process improvement and change management
  • Strong business communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Proven analytical skills and ability to exercise critical thinking and judgement
  • Experience in developing process and procedures
  • Strong diplomatic and motivational skills including the ability to partner with diverse stakeholders within a complex governance setting
  • Excellent facilitation skills and high emotional intelligence in issues management
  • Proven ability to work creatively and analytically with a problem-solving mandate, demonstrating teamwork, resourcefulness, initiative and creativity
  • Knowledge and ability to use project management methodology and apply appropriately
  • Highly accountable with demonstrated work ethic and with a commitment to the greater good
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated self-awareness
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and respond quickly to information requests from internal and external stakeholders in order to meet tight timelines
