Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular full-time Associate Director, Digital Marketing to join our dynamic Integrated Marketing team in our Donor Engagement and Corporate Reputation division.The Integrated Marketing team is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive, integrated marketing strategies aimed at building Canadian Blood Services’ brand, expanding our donor base, and enhancing donor loyalty.In this role, you will be accountable for developing and implementing a holistic, cohesive digital experience. You will ultimately work towards driving conversion from awareness and lead generation efforts through our owned digital channels and ensure measurable business impact. You will be accountable for leading a team that is focused on growth and management of our direct self-service digital channels. The primary focus of this role is on optimizing the donor journey from their first interaction through to conversion and retention, executing and measuring marketing channel effectiveness throughout. You will be required to analyse channel performance for continuous improvements and champion alignment with Canadian Blood Services’ brand and content strategies. You will have oversight of all team resources and must ensure the effective management and continuous development of talent in line with industry trends. You will also play a major role in fostering excellent inter-departmental and intra-divisional relationships at a national level and with internal and external stakeholders.Formula for success

  • Harnessing your demonstrated strategic experience and ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines, you will oversee all direct self-service channels, lead a cross-functional team of subject matter experts to deliver highly optimized digital experience strategies and programs, all in an effort to achieve annual targets.
  • Drawing on your demonstrated knowledge and expertise, you will lead and manage the digital experience technology strategy including the roadmap of capabilities required to enable digital experience strategies and tactics.
  • Focusing on your proven track record of delivering exceptional and measurable performance results, you will deliver detailed and actionable insights, strategic recommendations, allowing leadership to clearly understand what tactics and strategies are driving performance.
  • Digital drives a majority of core organizational engagement, and therefore you will need to partner very closely with internal teams (e.g., IT) to build a healthy pipeline of digital transformation.
  • Using your excellent analytical skills and strong attention to detail, you will contribute to insights by managing, analysing and reporting on target segment penetration, lead flow, campaign flow, lead attribution and marketing funnel management, including pipeline and attribution to determine performance, ROI and business impact of marketing activities. Also includes identifying cross-sell opportunities within the donor base.
  • Leveraging your proven leadership abilities with a strong team-work orientation, you will build and lead an integrated team of subject matter experts that spans omni-channel digital engagement honing their capabilities to drive growth through conversion and retention.
  • You will be actively involved in strategic planning on an annual, quarterly and monthly basis to ensure we’re consistently on the leading edge of digital marketing.
  • Utilizing your continuous growth mindset and demonstrated experience in advancing digital maturity for organizations, you will monitor industry trends and the competitive landscape, providing thought leadership and direction to continually improve knowledge and skills, communicate new ideas and trends, and ensure digital marketing programs are best-in-class and industry leading.
  • You will have an expert understanding and application of our first-party data to drive growth, leveraging our segmentation and audience insights to ensure our messaging and channels are relevant and effective.

Desired education and skills

  • Completion of a university degree in marketing, digital or other applicable areas of expertise, or equivalent work experience required.
  • 8-10 years of progressive digital marketing experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years in a digital marketing team leadership role.
  • Strategic thinker, highly collaborative, visionary and have a strong sense of business acumen.
  • Experience defining and implementing a robust MarTech strategy to ensure we have the right technology and digital performance ecosystem at our disposal.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing digital maturity for organizations similar to Canadian Blood Services (health care, publicly funded, non-profit, e-commerce, etc.,).
  • Strategic experience in developing, growing and managing owned digital channels such as websites, mobile apps, etc.
  • Proven track record of delivering exceptional and measurable performance results through digital marketing efforts.
  • Advanced knowledge of:

o Digital user experience design
o CRM technologies and marketing automation solutions
o Lead management best practices and demonstrated results leading life cycle implementation
o Email marketing and marketing automation technologies
o GA360, GA4 or other marketing analytics tools and platforms
o Previous experience in ecommerce marketing would be considered an asset

  • Working experience with paid, owned and earned digital marketing channels such as SEO, social media, influencers, etc.,
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into straightforward and actionable recommendations.
  • Proven leadership with a strong team-work orientation and the ability to work in a constantly changing and evolving organization.
  • Maintain currency with the latest digital marketing trends, tools, and best practices, ensuring that our digital marketing efforts remain effective.
