The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.Position OverviewUnder the general direction of the Director – Anesthesia, the incumbent is responsible for:

  • Patient Care – including the establishment of intravenous catheters, preparation of patients for surgery, and assisting the anesthetists in the operating room.
  • Technical – including the pre-testing, maintenance, repair, and monitoring of Anesthesia Machines, Nitronox Machines, Ventilators and accessory equipment.

Experience

  • At least one (1) year previous experience in anesthesia/operating room (OR) or intensive care area required.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required.
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Respiratory Technology.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Must hold a current active practicing license with the Manitoba Association of Registered Respiratory Therapists (MARRT).
  • Registration with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) preferred.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the Employer policy.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish intravenous catheters.
  • Basic knowledge of invasive and non-invasive monitors and working knowledge of anesthetic machines and related equipment.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Good organizational skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Manual dexterity with visual and aural acuity.
