Title of the Job: Accounts Payable Clerk

Are you a strong communicator?Job Description:As the Accounts Payable Clerk, you will work independently to process payables including cheques and electronic funds transfers. The Accounts Payable Clerk also provides assistance to the Accounting team with entering journal entries and credit card transactions.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Route invoices to the appropriate department for coding and payment authorization.
  • Ensure complete vendor management records are collected, set up, and accurately managed for processing payments.
  • Review coding of invoices for appropriateness and process payments on a weekly basis.
  • Prepare payments including cheques and electronic funds transfers (EFT) and distribute cheques and EFT notices as directed.
  • Maintain expense workflows and administrative screens in the electronic workflow software.
  • Update quarterly Administration and Finance & Audit Committee forecast working papers with actual expenses incurred. Support preparation of audit sample requests.
  • Review interface transactions between internal databases and accounting system to ensure accuracy and follow-up on errors identified.
  • Provide back-up to the Accounting Assistant when required.
  • In support of continuous quality improvement, review and make recommendations to update process or procedures within the program and assist with testing transactions and systems.
  • Prepare and enter journal entries, including credit card transactions and ensure appropriate documentation for credit card expense forms.
  • Prepare committee honorariums with appropriate withholdings calculated and applied. Maintain corresponding database.

QUALIFICATIONSEducation:

  • Advanced technical knowledge of a specific function or discipline (specialist) or general business knowledge of multiple functions or business processes (generalist) typically obtained through a 2-3 year post-secondary accounting diploma, or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Requirement for 1 to 3 years of related experience. Experience in Accounts Payable is considered an asset.

Skills:

  • 2-3 year Diploma program, with preference for accounting specialization
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and time management skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics, BI360, and CoreIntegrator is an asset

SALARY
The salary for this position is $48,990 annually and includes a comprehensive benefit package and pension plan.During the 90-day probationary period, the successful candidate will be required to work from CPSA’s downtown Edmonton Office.
