Year of study: 2nd year or higherWhat you will be doing:
- Counting / analysing of Chimney Swift behaviour.
- Biodiversity monitoring.
- Entering data into the Environmental Data Management System (EDMS).
- Assisting with dispositions to comments on the Environmental Impact Statement.
- Organizing and helping to respond to comments on the Environmental Impact Statement from the public, Indigenous groups and Federal / Provincial Reviewers.
- Supporting public / Indigenous engagement.
- Preparing presentation material (e.g. posterboards, PowerPoint presentations) for use in public / Indigenous engagement activities.
- Preparing Environmental Reviews (ERs) for activities that will be undertaken on the NPD site.
- Providing presentations on Species at Risk and other monitoring activities to visitors (including school groups and government departments).
- General project support.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What we are looking for:
- Education
- 2nd year or higher of university/college studying Conservation Biology, Environmental Technician / Technology / Assessment, Ecology, Environmental Monitoring, Sustainability.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Must have a valid driver’s license and vehicle.
- Strong organizational, record keeping and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Familiarity with Bird Studies Canada (BSC) and Chimney Swift monitoring programs (e.g. Ontario Swiftwatch) is an asset.
- Familiarity with Excel and EDMS is an asset.
- Knowledge of the nuclear industry is an asset.
- An understanding of the Federal Environmental Assessment process (CEAA 2012) is an asset.
- Security Clearance Eligibility Required
- Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat’s “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
