Job Description: Description :Reporting to the Senior Director of Food Services, the Food Services Manager is ultimately responsible for developing and providing leadership to the food services team. The Food Services Manager will be required to effectively and efficiently support, organize and evaluate all of Food Services programs and operations in multiple locations. This position will provide leadership to and assist in creating an environment that is committed to addressing food insecurity and stability through a variety of services and programs. The Food Services Manager will be a proven leader with exceptional communication skills and the ability to supervise and provide directions to others.Employment Type: Full time

RFR #: 965DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage the Food Services program by providing leadership support and development to the food services team, staff and volunteers
• Oversee the operations of all Food Services programs
• Recruit, mentor, oversee and manage the performance of Food Services staff in their respective responsibilities
• Guide, facilitate and assist in the development of community food programs in alignment with the policies and procedures of the organization
• Oversee the creation and delivery of weekly menus and monitor the ordering of all supplies to leverage discounts
• Ensure food programs are delivered in a safe and respectful environment for all guests, staff, volunteers and visitors
• Work collaboratively with other departments to achieve outcomes
• Build and nurture relationships with external partners and stakeholders
• Monitor budget costs related to operations and programs as well as oversee grant deployment and reporting, in collaboration with the Senior Director of Food Services
• Maintain records, statistics and incident reports in logbooks and computer files and software
• Ensure adherence to AB health and safety regulations and that requirements are current in all food service environments
• Support and ensure compliance with the requirements of The Mustard Seed Health and Safety program for staff, visitors and volunteers
• Maintain a high level of professionalism and adhere to all policies and procedures including but not limited to Health & Safety and HR policies and procedures
• Complete required training and organize and manage team meetings and other events
• Other duties including site related duties may be assigned when required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• Diploma in human services or food services field
• Minimum of three years related experience working with individuals facing mental health, addictions, chronic illness, homelessness, poverty and related challenges
• Experience in a leadership position
• Demonstrated understanding of the issues contributing to poverty
• Willingness and passion to learn, develop and achieve new skills for personal and professional development
• Proven track record in program delivery and team leadership including performance management
• Passion for food: nourishment, cooking, growing and food security
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Results oriented, excellent time management, organizational and problem-solving skills
• Excellent de-escalation and conflict resolution skills
• Highly motivated, compassionate, creative and responsible person
• Experience working in a volunteer-based organization is considered an asset
• Valid drivers license, clear 3-year drivers abstract and access to a reliable vehicle with $2,000,000 liability insurance

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Full-time schedule, 40 hours a week and flexibility to work evening shifts during the week and occasional weekends may be required
• Some travel/driving to partnering organizations and between The Mustard Seed sites will be required
• Considerable periods of standing and working in a fast-paced environment
• Moderate to significant physical and mental effort: must be able to lift up to 50lbs, move food, analyze information and problem solve
• May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases and conditions
• Employees are to be aware that many of our clients may experience difficulties or impairment at times, which could result in them uttering threats, discriminatory statements, and other insults at your person. This may be in the form of a raised voice, or in seeing unpredictable behaviour up to and including the possibility of them becoming aggressive

This position requires the use of a personal vehicle for company use. The candidate must have a valid driver’s license and maintain $2M Vehicle Liability insurance on the vehicle being used.
This position also requires the use of a company vehicle.
