Title of the Job: Laboratory Technician | contract term

Location: Vancouver, BC

Job Description: We are seeking a Lab technician to fulfill a contract engagement with a well established client of ours in the Vancouver area. The successful candidate will play a significant role on our clients Laboratory team interacting with both Operations and Shipping personnel. Reporting to the Technical Manager, the candidate will work closely with the site personnel on a daily basis to meet Quality Management System requirements. Strong analytical skills combined with extensive laboratory experience are required for success in this role.Advantages

-Analysis of production, effluent and final product samples.
-Sampling of production, effluent, and final product streams.
-Reporting of test results and analysis.
-Work closely with operations and shipping personnel to meet testing and reporting requirements.
-When required, work closely with plant personnel to troubleshoot process issues.
-When required, prepare chemicals and reagents for use in testing and by plant staff.
-When required, maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment.
-Develop methods and document procedures.
-Train plant personnel on testing procedures.
-Able to work with limited supervision.Qualifications
-B.Sc. (Chemistry) from a recognized institution.
-Minimum 3 years analytical laboratory experience.
-Knowledge and experience in the operation of HPLC, IC, GC and ICP would be an asset.
-Demonstrated analytical and troubleshooting skills.
-Demonstrated experience in method development and procedures documentation.
-Experience in an industrial plant environment would be an asset.
-Experience with Quality Assurance Principles and Quality Control Procedures.
-Capable of moderate lifting and light physical activities.
-Familiarity with SAP a definite asset.
-Strong organizational, documentation and computer skills requiredSummary
