Multiple positions are available.Located in Calgary, Alberta and reporting to the Research Agronomist, you will be involved with the establishment, maintenance and harvest of small plot yield trials.What you will do:

  • Seed bed preparation and flagging of sites.
  • Seed cleaning, seed treatment, and setup of seeding envelopes.
  • Seeding of small plot trials.
  • Setup and operation of irrigation equipment.
  • Maintenance of small plot trial sites.
  • Operate small plot field equipment such as tractors and tillage tools.
  • Drive a truck and trailer to move equipment between sites.
  • Take accurate and precise agronomic notes.
  • Operate small plot combines.
  • Fall land preparation, including application of herbicides and fertilizer.
  • Equipment calibration and maintenance.
  • Assist technicians, agronomists, and plant breeders with other duties as required.
  • Process cereal samples for analysis after harvest.
  • Some travel will be required.

What you will bring:

  • Punctual, reliable and able to work outdoors.
  • High level of attention to detail resulting in consistent outcomes.
  • Proven problem solving and critical thinking abilities in team and individual settings.
  • A valid Class 5 driver’s license.
  • Small plot field trial experience or agricultural or farm experience is an asset but not required.
  • Mechanical aptitude with farm machinery is an asset but not required.
