The program is looking for a dynamic, energetic individual with strong communication skills who is committed to student success, satisfaction, motivation, and achievement and in participating in team concept of program operation. The program focuses on real-world issues and practical skills. Instructional assignments will support students with hands-on learning applying computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) systems to civil engineering problems in the areas of: structural design; urban services design; highway design; pavement design; geotechnical design; project management and applied research.Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and present learning outcomes and activities in a classroom, laboratory and industry setting
  • Participate in curriculum development, program reviews and course reviews
  • Facilitate the learning process by utilizing instructional strategies that ensure efficient and effective delivery of course materials
  • Manage instructional delivery and set the tone and climate for a safe and effective learning environment
  • Create assessment tools to evaluate the learning process and maintain progress records
  • Provide on-going coaching and tutoring for students to maximize student success and retention and respond to student issues
  • Utilize appropriate educational technology for presentations, communications and program promotions
  • Maintain professional and ethical relationships with students, colleagues and industry partners
  • Utilize regular student feedback to identify and implement instructional improvement
  • Improve the quality of instruction through professional development activities
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills & Abilities:

  • Have strong technical knowledge in Civil Engineering fundamentals
  • Be able to work both independently and within a team environment
  • Bring passion, enthusiasm, and ideas that will positively contribute to the advancement and growth of the Civil Engineering Technology program
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and industry related software tools are essential

Qualifications:

  • Minimum requirements are a diploma in Civil Engineering with several years of related industry experience.

A related Master’s or Undergraduate Degree would be an asset * Be a member of, or eligible for, registration with ASET or APEGA would be an asset

  • Related instructional experience in a post-secondary environment would be a definite asset

Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).Remuneration: Will commensurate with education and experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package.Instructor salary grid $64,994.80 – $113,063.86 annually. However, starting salary for new hires averages between $78,728.52 – $85,595.38 annually based on education and experience with room for negotiations.
